I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would want to take a holiday anywhere here or abroad, until the pandemic is under some sort of control, or at least most people of all ages are vaccinated.
Question Author
perhaps they weren't expecting a third lockdown wave across Europe.
Well I take it from this that vaccinations dont work then?

Or was that just more lies from Boris and Co?

Honestly if Boris, hancock, Witless or GSK-Vallance told me it was raining I'd go outside to check.
Question Author
not that they don't work but the rest of Europe, or seemingly, is going into a third wave of covid 19 lockdowns.
Sorry I dont get your logic there. Ig they work then it doesnt matter if they are in the tenth wave,

At some point we have to learn to live with it.
Question Author
but it means no travel to those hotspots.
If I was travelling to a place where vaccination for a particular disease was required and had had the innoculation I'd be off to that place.

What's different now?

Or is there an air of pure feartness in the air? Can't do that because in inept inadequate decrees it?

Question Author
that it is to be law if they vote for it thursday.... a 5k fine possibly if you break the law....
If vaccinations work then it doesnt matter if there are hotspots, there will always be hotspots so do we lock down forever?

I happen to believe the vaccines work, I have had the AZ. So what is Johnson & Co playing at? He needs to go pronto.
Question Author
even with the vaccinations one can still catch it, or is that not true?
YMB: "Well I take it from this that vaccinations dont work then? " - they have been shown to be 100% effective at stopping the serious effects of the disease. If in the few cases when people get it the symptoms are minimal. the problem is the EUSSR et al with their half arised "lockdowns" and woeful vaccination program. Gawd the announced a lockdown a few days ago, what have they been doing since November?? Once we have all had the vaccine we'll be much safer to travel etc
Anything's possible, emmie, but vaccination gives protection to the vast majority who have it.

Polio, smallpox, measles, mumps to name a few successes.
Yes emmie, I believe vaccine is 95% effective.
According to a lot of people I don't live in England but I would love to see and meet up with my family but I fully expect I shall be staying where I live until it is safe to travel.
PS I have travelled and worked abroad and yes I do miss it but I like being reasonably healthy and have no intention of risking that.
If you miss just lazing in the sun why not buy a sun bed.
YMB: "Sorry I don't get your logic there. If they work then it doesnt matter if they are in the tenth wave, " - yes once we have all had the vaccine we won't be susceptible, we are nearly half way through in about 14 weeks, that's pretty good compared to many. The world needs to stop the unvaxed travelling though.
Holiday companies will suffer even more if covid tests are mandatory to enter another country and then to re-enter britain. That adds a lot of money onto said holidays. What's the point of vaccines if you still need testing to go abroad?
The world needs to stop using 'unvaxed'.
// What's the point of vaccines if you still need testing to go abroad? //

the vaccine stops you getting sick. so it protects you but that's all it does; it won't stop you becoming infected, it won't stop you being infectious. until the whole world is vaccinated, that's why testing has to continue.
roslyn: "Holiday companies will suffer even more if covid tests are mandatory to enter another country and then to re-enter britain. " - testing will tail off, it will be proof of vaccination that takes over. The passport system will start to include the covid vaccine along with those it already includes. Within a year or two, you won't be able to travel without proof of vaccination. That is how the world will eventually get this under control.
"the vaccine stops you getting sick. so it protects you but that's all it does; it won't stop you becoming infected, it won't stop you being infectious. until the whole world is vaccinated, that's why testing has to continue. " - err no, in the vast majority of cases the immune system kills off the virus within a few days. Of those where it doesn't the symptoms are minimal.
