Sir Alan Duncan Politician Con. Writing in his new book. Describes Johnson as a
Self centered egoist,an embarrasing buffoon with an untidy mind, and sub zero diplomatic judgement, and needs publicity like a drug addict needs cocaine. WOW.
Does anyone on A/B agree with him.

Anyone could have told you that – I’m waiting for Boris to admit that the only reason he backed Brexit was to give him a better chance of becoming PM. He is the sort of person who is willing to flush the country down the toilet for personal gain – not the sort of person you’d want running any country.

but no one knew who Rory Stewart was. The country by and large knew Boris, whether that is a good thing or not remains to be seen.
I think people saw Boris has a clown, and we needed a laugh, we got the laugh, but we now need a magician.
I had heard of him Emmie. I posted this in August 2018.

to do what exactly, magic the deaths down, magic the level of people in hospital, that ain't going to happen as far as i can see.
LB, so you have, but the party hadn't much time for him seemingly and voted for someone else, one who has had the most unbelieveable bad luck.
its not all bad luck though is it... Johnson's response at the start of the pandemic was not good at all (remember him frittering away our weeks of warning and boasting about "shaking hands with everyone") and Brexit was a problem that he helped enormously to create.
//Brexit was a problem that he helped enormously to create.\\

Replace the word 'create' with 'solve' and you'd be spot on.
untitled: "... and then there was Rory Stewart, a deeply principled intelligent and experienced person who I really believe would have done far better for this country. Unfortunately all the tories who would have voted for him were purged or left. " - nice bloke very competent, great to have in the team but zero charisma, zero gravitas, would have been a Tory version of Captain H with even less presence if that's possible. We'd never have wiped the floor with Agent Cob and the anti British with him at the helm.
untitled, how did Boris create Brexit? That was done by Lord Farage and UKIP forcing Cameron to promise a referendum in the run up to the 2015 GE. He feared EUSSR sceptics would desert the party if he did not. He then lost the vote and scarpered. Not sure how Boris was responsible there.
ken: // i'm not interested in the PM's "counterparts in France, Germany & the rest". I live in England and am concerned only what our government does. And, vaccines apart, our government has been found wanting at every step of the of the way. //

The important thing to know about Boris is that he 'gets it done'; how? isn't the main issue.

I'm reminded by your post of what Dr Johnson said of a dog's walking on his hind legs. "It is not done well; but you are surprised to find it done at all.” :0)
No emmie we need the magician to make Boris disappear.
Dr Johnson was alluding to women preaching in church, which he likened to a dog walking on its hind legs.
I said "helped to create" for that reason ToraToraTora.

As for how - by throwing his weight behind Vote Leave.

"We'd never have wiped the floor with Agent Cob and the anti British with him at the helm."

I don't agree... Corbyn was for various reasons very unpopular and the tory win was far more anti-Corbyn than pro-Johnson.
untitled: I dunno what goes through the heads of your lefty types but if you seriously think that Rory Stewart would have also won a Landslide then you know nothing about politics or the British public. Maybe that's why the left hardly ever win an election, last one 1974, been a long wait chaps, you do not appear to have learned much in that time!
The tories won that election by not being Labour ToraToraTora... they did not win it because of Johnson... against Corbyn's unpopularity I think just about anyone would have won.
you seriously believe that untitled? So did you still vote Labour?
I do believe that yes... and it is none of your business how I voted.
I agree absolutely with untitled. ALL my friends voted Tory DESPITE Boris, not because of him.
The Mail is in even more raptures today, describing his written tosh as 'rollicking'.

Who on earth under sixty uses the term 'rollicking'????????
TTT - // you seriously believe that untitled? //

I believe it as well.

They could have put up a pig in a blue rosette aganst Corbyn and it would have walked in.
