indeed Naomi, let's hope that this piffling matter goes away soon, and that he can get on with the job in hand.
If he's telling bare-faced porkies, Emmie, can it be considered 'piffling'?
if he said he paid for it himself, and did say so yesterday at PM question time, on being quizzed by SKS then i believe him. We are in the midst of a mind blowing pandemic, there are more troubles brewing in Northern Ireland, still problems with Brexit, and so forth, all need a focused team in government, so yes i say piffling and mean it.
A pandemic rages around the world, thousands of jobs gone to the wall,an excellent vaccine roll out here, something to be proud of, trillions in debt because of the pandemic .....but forget all that, let’s chat about wallpaper and soft furnishing in Gully’s mancrush apartment Eh?
He would not answer the question of who had 'initially' paid the bill, Emmie. He said he had 'covered it'. Whatever that means. And i don't believe for one second that this row is impacting on any of his day to day duties as PM. That is mere deflection, imho.
you can see yesterday that he was getting annoyed, i can understand that, this matter won't go away as it should, Bobbi you are right, all this going on and all Labour can come up with is Tory sleaze...
> And as long as we're not going to make this thread about the actual issue, let's have a few more Turkish brothel jokes. The decorating stuff is like watching paint dry.

Sad to see no more Turkish brothel jokes ...
what turkish brothel jokes, did i miss something.........
There's only been one so far ...

Spicerack> It's not the state rooms, ummmm. It's their private flat which apparently resembles a Turkish brothel now Carrie's designer has finished with it.
davebro> Spicey - where do you get your knowledge of Turkish brothels?
Spicerack> Your mum, dave.

I loved that. And it was far more preferable than the discussion of Wickes magnolia versus Dulux or Crown.

Of course, the issue of the PM allegedly accepting bungs is not really worth discussing ...

Very clever man is Keir , all this time Boris has avoided and swerved around the Question of who paid for the refurb , the closest Boris ever got to an answer was "I covered the bill" but when Boris lost it yesterday he said in temper "I paid the bill"
but if the enquiry proves he did not pay the bill initially ,that means he has lied to parliament and that could well be the end of Boris
Gulliver// that could well be the end of Boris//
In your dreams.
Danny Gullivers main aim is to make a fool of people that answer him,he goes in the News section with no links, he never answers anything put to him, he talks glibly of Boris ‘swerving’ a question, Gully invented the move !
In yesterday's PMQs, the PM said, "[Starmer] should know that I paid for Downing Street refurbishment personally. Any further declaration that I have to make—if any—I will be advised upon by Lord Geidt."

If he paid for the refurbishment at the time from his own pocket, why did he Even think there would be the possibility of having to make a further declaration?

14.09."Gully invented the move" tell Boris, he might need me when he has to move out.
if he goes then another Tory takes his place, ha.
Then what will lil ole Gully do then ^^
> if he goes then another Tory takes his place, ha.

For those Tory voters who find Boris a disgrace, that would be just fine ...
Kier, i can't see him leading the party at the next election in 2024.
i don't find him a disgrace, he can stay until the next election as far as i am concerned. He has got a lot wrong, there is no doubt, but having had covid, going through this pandemic, battling the powers that be over Brexit, he's still standing. If he goes then another Tory, perhaps Rishi Sunak would take his place, or even Michael Gove, which i wouldn't want to see happen.
Gove? Heaven forbid.
