Boris says he and he alone, will have the final say on whether there will be an investigation into who paid for the refurb , any one fancy betting on what his desicion will be.?
when did he say that little gem? some sort of back up gulliver always helps.
But he didn't mislead Parliament. He simply wouldn't say who initially paid the bill.
As usual Gulliver is spreading false news.Boris has declared that he will provide the Commission with anything that they may require.
Question Author
If Boris has nothing to hide why doesn't he want an investigation?
Gulliver, read the post at 15.07.
i thought he had agreed for it to be looked into.
In yesterday's PMQs, Starmer said yo the PM,

"It has been widely reported that Lord Brownlow, who just happens to have been given a peerage by the Conservative party, was asked to donate £58,000 to help pay for the cost of this refurbishment. Can the Prime Minister, if he is so keen to answer, confirm: did Lord Brownlow make that payment for that purpose?"

The PM said,

"I think I have answered this question several times now, and the answer is that I have covered the costs. I have met the requirements that I have been obliged to meet in full."

If Lord Brownlow did not make a payment, why did the PM not make that abundantly clear?
> If Lord Brownlow did not make a payment, why did the PM not make that abundantly clear?

Whether or not Lord Brownlow made the payment, Boris would have answered in the same way. He's a politician. They're trained not to give a straight answer to a straight question, just in case it comes back to bite them. It's part of the problem with UK politics. We plebs should have learnt that by now.

Why would, Perigrine Francis Adelbert Cust, 6th Baron Brownlow .want to pay for a refurb for Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson. Do they have something in
common.
you seem to know Boris well going on your posts, perhaps you could tell us if they have something in common.
have you got the right one gulliver ?

Peregrine Cust, 6th Baron Brownlow - Wikipedia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peregrine_Cust,_6th_Baron_Brownlow

Peregrine Francis Adelbert Cust, 6th Baron Brownlow (27 April 1899 – 28 July 1978), often known as Perry Brownlow, was a British peer and courtier. He was the son of Adelbert Salusbury Cockayne Cust, 5th Baron Brownlow, and his wife Maud Buckle.
where did you get your info gulliver, as the first Baron you quoted died in 1978, unless he has a son with exactly the same name.
Question Author
So Boris has agreed to an investigation but not until after the May elections, and after the election for the Mayor of London , I think that says it all.
Question Author
One thing Boris can take credit for is ,The Cons have now lost the name "The Nasty Party " and are now known as the "Sleaze Party" well done Boris.
Has anyone got any details, or links( that sadly excludes at least one) highlighting the decorators bill or account of previous personal refurbs to the flat? I hope every previous P.M. has kept records of who paid for what and when. Cos sauce for a Goose is sauce for a Gander, innit? All I can find is some daft bird who painted the door at No.10 green in 1908.
Is a thread about a bit of decorating still running?

Blimey, slow news day then.

There’s been two great things about this thread, the comment “your mum” because that’s always funny, and the comment about Gulliver and Barcelona airport, because it’s true.
DD is right about the two snorters. I had not read all the thread but did so after his comment. Laugh ... I did. Spice gets a mention in despatches for the succinct but precise reply. From now on s/he is indeed "Barcelona Airport". Joking aside, Boris needs a kin good kick in the nuts for having the place decorated like a gypsy caravan. What is she planning?
