Hopefully they have learnt from Theresa May.
Indeed! Thought she was on a winner but it blew up in her face.
You have a good idea, but i do not think Boris would have one just eighteen months after the last one.
I thought there were plans under way to scrap the FTPA in any case.
There was a referendum ten year ago on using an Alternative Vote system rather than FTP but two-thirds voted against it.
FPTP even...
Ignore me, confusing FTPA with FPTP...
Have you been drinking again,Corby. Are you still getting my posts removed because you dont like them?
At least I can spell my real name backwards which was beyond you when you joined AB.

Regarding reported posts, folk can report posts and Mods can delete them. If the EDs disagree with the report, nothing will happen; if they disagree with a deletion, it will be re-instated.

Ho-hum.Running to the teacher,eh.You know what happens to clypes, sneaks, informers, dont you loon?
Go on, tell me.
Nothing, it would appear...

Winning a General Election now would push Boris’s reign to 2016.
Thatcher held an election 2 and a half years early on the feel good factor after Falklands success. A won big.
Why wouldn’t Boris cash in on freedom from Lockdown?
Admittedly Corbyn was stupid, but he took the bait in voting for an election when he didn’t have to. Oppositions being scared of a general election never looks good, which is why they might fall for the same trap twice.

perhaps but he'll easily win in 2024 anyway and probably 2029.
The 1983 election was one year early, not two and a half.
Baring a cataclysmic issue in the Tory Party Its pretty odds on cert The Tories will win 2024. It is highly unlikely labour will get its act anywhere like together before then even with a new leader.

So why would Johnson bother (and labour agree)?
‘Winning a General Election now would push Boris’s reign to 2026’

The chances of Labour inventing some credible policies and having a credible leader by the time of the next election are slim to F all. A conservative Govt would seem to be a cert without resorting to a completely unnecessarily early GE.
As long as Labour continue to let the tail wag the dog they are doomed to failure.
In a way, Labour was always a party where the tail (the working class) wagged the dog (the people elected by those working class people to give them a better life).
