//Thank god most realise it's about maleness and not religion. // If 'maleness' is the fundamental problem we would see male names from an assortment of cultures on that list - but we don't. Those people who allegedly 'realise', consistently ignore the elephant in the room and are in denial - and denial of this on-going abuse does nothing to help the victims....

Untitled, you keep repeating more or less the same thing without ever attempting to answer the questions that need to be answered.
I said // it’s true that most of the abusers come from certain sections of Muslim society - mainly Pakistani - so that must beg the question ‘Why?’ //
….and you said that was a good question - so why haven’t you attempted to answer it?
Whilst demonising a whole culture is wrong, defending that culture at the expense of the rest of society is also wrong - and in this case, dangerous.

Naomi my reason for coming on to the thread was to object to an attempt being made in it to use awful crimes to demonize muslim men... you do not deny that this happens, you imply instead that the culture in question deserves it.
As to why the perpetrators are heavily pakistani - pakistan has, as far as I am aware, an extremely sexist patriarchal culture in which male entitlement and superiority are very important. It is also a country which has numerous problems with law enforcement, so crimes like this - if they are taken seriously - go unpunished more easily than they do in places like the UK.

Rape is a crime in Pakistan with very serious penalties in Pakistan:

Like I say it is a country that has trouble enforcing its laws for various reasons (corruption, poverty, terrain, inequality). It is sadly not surprising then that rape is more prevalent - it is much easier to get away with and many men - especially privileged ones - feel entitled to the bodies of women.

The culture responsible does deserve it. Why do you think it doesn’t? Is what it does acceptable to you - and if so, why?
Your reasoning regarding the laws in Pakistan and what happens here in the UK is askew.

The whole of Islam embraces such a culture - but that doesn’t mean it’s acceptable. It isn’t.

TTT - // anyone answered why the list of men is all muslim yet? //
You are absolutely determined to shoehorn your belief that all Muslim men are de facto abusers, and it is simply not a valid argument.
I am unsure that there is evidence that they are all 'Muslim'.
I am a 'Christian' - I was baptised in a C of E church, and I have a certificate to prove it.
But I am not a Christian in any accepted sense of the word, my morals and attitudes are not formed or governed by Christianity.
Why cannot the same concept be considered for these individuals?

Because demonizing an entire section of society - in this case, Muslims, for the terrible actions of a group of Pakistani men - is inherently wrong. Demonization is a tactic used by violent-minded people everywhere to justify violence, and it is no different here.
You don't disagree with me... you just insist that they deserve it. And here the mask has slipped. I am glad that you now admit to doing it, having earlier today dismissed it as a piece of my imagination. If someone works as hard as you do to demonize muslims, naomi, then they are justifying something terrible against them in the future... there is no other purpose for it.

AH, Which bit of //they choose to do it - which is why most Muslim men choose not to.// didn't you understand? If you could muster up a modicum of interest in what others say rather than concentrating on the sound of your own voice all the time, you might - just might - avoid putting your foot in it quite so frequently.
AH: "TTT - // anyone answered why the list of men is all muslim yet? //

You among others have often told us that religion to a muslim is an integral part of their being indeed apostacy is punishable by death. Now out of the 29 if some are non muslim or non practicing muslim then great but in all honesty look at the list and find me the non muslims!

The list is 100% Muslim (sic) because the poor girl was passed round a particular group of Muslims. Groups engaging in criminal activities tend not to have 'outsiders' in them due to mistrust of 'outsiders', this is the same across all ethnic or religious groups, or those from a certain 'area'. It's unfeasible that there would be a person of African heritage in that group, surprised this is a big question.
