I think people are missing the point, jourdain. There are few restrictions that affect individuals (or at least any that they can defy). About the only one is face coverings. All the rest and those which are causing so much damage, relate to businesses. They cannot defy the regulations (e.g. pubs must continue with "social distancing", restaurants must continue to run at 50% capacity, businesses with office workers must continue to see that they WFH were possible). Most of these businesses rely on licences which are controlled by local authorities who will be more than pleased to enforce the legislation with gusto, with the ultimate sanction - loss of licence - in their armoury.
