//At the end of the day the only numbers that matter are deaths and hospitalisations and they are negligible.//
//09.13 where are you getting your figures from then Dave?.
The government's official figures:
Deaths since the beginning of June: 266 (average 11 a day).
The last time there were more than 16,000 new infections a day (in February) deaths were hovering between 900 and 1,000 a day).
Numbers in hospital on 22nd June (latest available): 1,533.
In early February there were almost 30,000 people in hospital and they were being admitted at the rate of around 2,500 a day.
I would call that comparatively negligible.
