Galloway complaining that his posters were taken down?
Hmm - it was a dirty fight and that was largely down to him. The word “divisive” could have been invented for him. Wherever there’s a cheer to stir racial tension he seems to be sniffing around it, pretty much like the hapless far right candidates who also stood, including I note Jayda Fransen.
At least he was honest about standing to try and help the Tories win. In many ways this is not a bad result for the Tories either: would they really want to have sneaked it on his loathsome back?

Gulliver at 09.45, And yet another juvenile reply. But not as juvenile as many of yours and as my reply to you was correct not stupid as you put. Do you ever read anything you post before pressing the return as much of the time it doesn't seem like it. If either you or douglas had read my answer you would have seen that I was correct or are you going to try and twist the result to make it look like labour did really well.
a governing party won't often win a mid-term by election. plus labour fielded a locally-living candidate, and fought the election on local issues. they should have aced it, but they didn't. goals count, so they held the seat - but they didn't "win" it. the result represented a 2.9% swing away from labour and if repeated at a GE, would result in labour losing 11 seats.
all the analysis articles in the media today are saying there are too many factors to say why it ended as it did.
(for instance if George Galloway hadn't stood, there's no saying labour would have got 8000 extra votes - not all south asians vote labour, and the "tactical" voters in the lib-dem leaning areas may have stuck with their own party.)
but they all agree labour should have done better, and a 300 vote majority should give them cause for concern.

It’s a better result for Labour than it is a bad result for the Tories, but there’s no doubt it’s disappointing considering they were several points up in the opinion polls there last week. Then Matt Hancock happened …
As I said earlier sometimes it’s little things that make all the difference. Take the 8,000 Galloway votes and you can see that were it not for him, the margin might have been possibly greater than at the GE.
We’ll never know
