I suspect social media have greatly amplified something that was previously heard just in pubs*. Also, as someone said, there are more obviously successful BAME people to get into an envious rage about. *not ummmm's

I really really hope not.
Nothing new in that sp 1814, England has always been racist, but now, more black people are in the public eye and hence racial abuse is becoming the norm.
Might be they speak out about it more, and the authorities and media are more likely to respond. More black celebrities so there are spokespeople who already have a media profile, and a sense that accusations of racial bias can not be challenged. Many have suffered, but it now seems to be a stick to beat everyone else with.
David Beckham had effigies hanging from lampposts after his sending off during the Argentina during the 1998 world cup.

Rooney had effigies made and burnt

Graeme Taylor was turned into a turnip after his disastrous Euro 92.

All white sp1814, no one is immune from abuse.
Webbo, but none of those examples, as sickening as they were, referenced the player's ethnicity.

Sadly, I think that it might be the new normal, and no amount of knee taking is going to change that.

But black celebrities get racist abuse even when they've done nothing wrong. Perhaps the issue is that racists are able to hide on behind social media profiles whereas before they didn't have ready access, a direct line to those they wanted to abuse?
Is he black?
so death threats are ok if you are white.?
Ooooh, don't let Andy see you use that sort of language.

Of course death threats aren't acceptable, I'm just saying that the white players never suffer racial attacks.
I take you have given the idiotic BAME acronym the boot, sp?

People like Motsi Mabuse. All she is a judge on a dancing show. Hardly anything controversial there!

Leigh-Anne Pinnock - singer in a pop group.

I don't mind that acronym at all. Not sure if I've used it exclusively before though.

With that in mind, do you have a comment on the thread? If not no worries.
'England has always been racist' Has it ???
The vast majority of online racial abuse does not come from white people....it comes from your BAME brothers, sp.

But let's just gloss over that.
roy; do you have anytthing to back up your assertion at 19:40?
The Bible, perhaps? Or some other reliable source? :-)
Roy - //The vast majority of online racial abuse does not come from white people....it comes from your BAME brothers, sp.//

Anything to back that up?

I think royfromaus is trolling there.

Probably best to ignore the comment and drive by.
