err indoors has just driven by several with no queue, one garage is rationing it to £30 per customer but there was no queue. I think all the panick buyers have now filled up everything they have. I saw some nobedski with about 6 petrol cans yesterday! PMSL

I would have no qualms at all about calling the police for someone with an illegal amount of petrol in a car or anywhere else, for that matter.

I hope so.... mine will be on red soon, and I need it for work. Trying to wait until it calms down a little though. We've had queues apparently around all the local stations, blocking roads.
Ther really should be a minimum of £30, and no portable containers. Because otherwise, people can just top up by a fiver, which they don't really need right now.

Yesterday, my petrol tank showed half full. I went to my local Tesco filling station, and joined the queue. The queue never really stopped moving, and I was in the queue for just 5 minutes. I filled my tank with E10 petrol (the E5 was not available, but I didn't want that, anyway) and I picked up a newspaper as well! All done and dusted in a few minutes, and no restrictions on how much I could spend.

It's illegal to have more than 3 x 5 litre containers of petrol, which must be of the approved type. Diesel is different because it's not so dangerous.

My mate has all his cars full at all times. So he's always ready for a crisis. Mine are never over half full. LB I suspect the BB is a full tank type!

ladybirder: I am not prepared to run my petrol tank down until the red light shows, and then tour the filling stations in the hope of getting some petrol. I don't do much mileage these days, and it is my habit to fill up at the weekend, anyway. I joined the (smallish) queue at Tesco because it was just that, small. I do not panic buy anything, but I am a cautious person, and I do not care to sail close to the wind.

Anne - 2 jerry cans are permitted in a cart, max 10 litres per can - if metal. If plastic, it's 2 x 5 litres.
