The airline clearly explained why Kahn and his mate were booted off the the plane. The rules may be silly, illogical, senseless etc but they are the rules and no one is better at applying senseless pointless rules than our American friends. Amir me old china just bear it so you can travel.

SP, //American Airlines has said Khan and his colleague were “deplaned” because they repeatedly refused to comply with crew member requests to stow luggage, place phones in airplane mode and adhere to face mask requirements.// I don't call 'repeatedly' refusing to comply with the crew's requests a 'minor infraction'. It might be convenient to claim that...

naomi24 - why would the airline be spinning? Because companies regularly spin. To protect their brand.

I could ignore everything you've written after "Because he's a man of colour" because this not what I think.

However in answer to your point "What would you say if a white man was offloaded in the same circumstances?"...I think you got a bit mixed up...remember, it wasn't me who posted this question. It was TTT.

If I had posted a thread that said, "Look at American Airlines - they threw Amir Khan off their plane because he's Asian", you would have a point

...but I didn't.
Also naomi24 - Khan's comments are odd because they weren't his. He tweeted that he was unhappy about his treatment - nothing else. Then he was interviewed by Kay Burley on Sky and SHE put it to him that he may have been racially profiled as it happened so soon after the anniversary of 9/11.

This thread makes it sounds like Khan immediately went to race when he didn't.
Naomi, 17:28. I certainly won't! Hardly anyone bothers suing the press. What for, in any case??
Tora, you're acting as if every complaint, whether it be of racism, sexism, homophobia or anything else, is made up. As soon as someone makes such a complaint, your default position seems to be one of disbelief.

Are you suggesting that folk who have suffered such abuse just suck it up and keep quiet?

Have a look at the twitter feed in this link:

The fact that Khan asks whether there was any void footage suggests to me that he might be telling the truth. Why would he even say that if he was indeed acting up?

I know it's easy to assume that non-whites are simply lying when we talk about racism but the same fact is - sometimes it happens. It's no use denying it.
SP, he answered the question. As for the rest of your latest posts you’ve lost me. You seem to be going around in circles.
Like I said earlier, mozz.... it's very easy to dismiss or scoff at, when you aren't the wrong end of it. You only need to listen to people who are, to see, they might possibly have a point. Anyway, back to 2021 :-)
Anyway - like TTT I've got to leave this one now.

Off to panic-buy some petrol.

Kidding.
naomi24

Ha ha - just reread them.

They don't seem too complicated.
So now you’re saying he has claimed it was racially motivated. Make up your mind, sp.

By the way, how do you know the crew were all white?
Ignore my inconvenient question, naomi :-)))
t would certainly help if someone foes have footage of what went on.
What question?
A quick scroll back tells me it’s the one about suing the newspapers and you asked what for? We’ll for lying about him - and whilst he’s at it perhaps he’ll sue the airline too - but as I said don’t hold your breath.
As I said, I won't. How is lying an offence? Even libel needs proof. If lying was a crime, we would have no media and no Internet... but if you believe it's all true- your choice.

mozz: "Tora, you're acting as if every complaint, whether it be of racism, sexism, homophobia or anything else, is made up. As soon as someone makes such a complaint, your default position seems to be one of disbelief." - no, i'm not saying they are made up I'm saying that they believe they are being singled out because of race and that whites would be let off.

"Are you suggesting that folk who have suffered such abuse just suck it up and keep quiet? " - no, I'm not talking about abuse, I'm talking about application of the rules in the situation concerned.

Did I?

I've scrolled back and can't find that.

You also wrote:

//By the way, how do you know the crew were all white?//

Where has you inferred that???
TTT

//no, i'm not saying they are made up I'm saying that they believe they are being singled out because of race and that whites would be let off.//

And how are you able to tell false accusations from those with merit?
SP. The headline from the link you posted.

//Amir Khan claims his removal from US plane was racially motivated//

I haven't inferred anything. I asked you a question.
Ah I see - that's exactly what I was referring to earlier. If you look at the link from Sky, he explained what happened and then Kay Burley put it to him that he could've been removed due to sensitivity over 9/11.

//When asked if he was saying he was removed from the plane because of the colour of his skin and the fact that it was a week after the anniversary of 9/11, the boxer said: "I'm not saying that, but I think it might have something to do with that.//

From that Sky can publish a headline making it sound as if this were his claim when in fact it was THEIR claim which they put to him.

If you have a look at his embedded Twitter feed he make no mention of this theory.
