The airline clearly explained why Kahn and his mate were booted off the the plane. The rules may be silly, illogical, senseless etc but they are the rules and no one is better at applying senseless pointless rules than our American friends. Amir me old china just bear it so you can travel.

SP, //American Airlines has said Khan and his colleague were “deplaned” because they repeatedly refused to comply with crew member requests to stow luggage, place phones in airplane mode and adhere to face mask requirements .// I don't call 'repeatedly' refusing to comply with the crew's requests a 'minor infraction'. It might be convenient to claim that...

naomi24 - why would the airline be spinning? Because companies regularly spin. To protect their brand.
I could ignore everything you've written after "Because he's a man of colour" because this not what I think.
However in answer to your point "What would you say if a white man was offloaded in the same circumstances?"...I think you got a bit mixed up...remember, it wasn't me who posted this question. It was TTT.
If I had posted a thread that said, "Look at American Airlines - they threw Amir Khan off their plane because he's Asian", you would have a point
...but I didn't.

Also naomi24 - Khan's comments are odd because they weren't his. He tweeted that he was unhappy about his treatment - nothing else. Then he was interviewed by Kay Burley on Sky and SHE put it to him that he may have been racially profiled as it happened so soon after the anniversary of 9/11.
This thread makes it sounds like Khan immediately went to race when he didn't.

Tora, you're acting as if every complaint, whether it be of racism, sexism, homophobia or anything else, is made up. As soon as someone makes such a complaint, your default position seems to be one of disbelief.
Are you suggesting that folk who have suffered such abuse just suck it up and keep quiet?

The fact that Khan asks whether there was any void footage suggests to me that he might be telling the truth. Why would he even say that if he was indeed acting up?
I know it's easy to assume that non-whites are simply lying when we talk about racism but the same fact is - sometimes it happens. It's no use denying it.

mozz: "Tora, you're acting as if every complaint, whether it be of racism, sexism, homophobia or anything else, is made up. "Are you suggesting that folk who have suffered such abuse just suck it up and keep quiet? " - no, I'm not talking about abuse, I'm talking about application of the rules in the situation concerned.

Ah I see - that's exactly what I was referring to earlier. If you look at the link from Sky, he explained what happened and then Kay Burley put it to him that he could've been removed due to sensitivity over 9/11.
//When asked if he was saying he was removed from the plane because of the colour of his skin and the fact that it was a week after the anniversary of 9/11, the boxer said: "I'm not saying that, but I think it might have something to do with that.//
From that Sky can publish a headline making it sound as if this were his claim when in fact it was THEIR claim which they put to him.
If you have a look at his embedded Twitter feed he make no mention of this theory.
