Doom And Gloom.
Here is a letter in last week's Spectator;
Sir: The depressing article by Tom Woodman (‘You must be kidding’, 16 October) confirms my growing fears about the damage being wrought by the promoters of apocalyptic climate change, which has become a dangerous cult with alarming echoes of millenarian doom which has stretched through many previous centuries. While sensible care for the environment is a good thing, the descriptions of a frightening future of the imminent end of the world through drought, flood and fire now imbues every aspect of education and politics. Constantly bombarding young people with the news that the end of the world is nigh has led many of them into completely unnecessary visions of death and disaster.
Those convinced by the relentlessly gloomy outlook should try reading some of the opposite viewpoints instead, of which there are many. Those responsible for the propaganda should hang their heads in shame at what they have done and are doing to the mental welfare of younger generations.

Except the science they peddle is the extreme one that is not provable and is based on models. So it is propaganda.
Given there are less extreme groups that are being overlooked because they dont peddle the extreme 'science' and that is a shame because we need to be cleaner not for 'C02' but for pollution. Something we can se and can do something about.

Global Warming (sorry, Climate change) has become a religion for many – if you are not a believer (that it is real and due to human activity) you might as well be in league with the Devil.
Over the last 4 billion years or so, the earth has undergone many dramatic changes in temperature and composition of the various gases within the atmosphere; all without any input from human activity.

I shall believe scientists when both side of the argument receive equal funding. At the moment the scientists who state the fault lies with mankind, without any definite proof, are the only ones getting funded. Naturally they will continue to agree with the government to ensue they continue to receive their salary. Only an idiot would talk him/her self out of a career.

Yep. But man didn’t exist the last time the climate changed. We are only about 30,000 years old. For most of that time, our impact on the environment was negligible.
Now we are 8 billion people, and our impact on the planet is showing and countable.

What I found most alarming about the main stream news is showing footage of fires, floods, droughts, starving babies etc. - which is now the easiest thing to do with satellite communication & there is, and always has been such things happening all the time somewhere on the planet & the voice over makes the inevitable comment on climate change as though one goes hand in glove with the other.
As she says in the OP; what is this doing to the mental welfare of younger generations?

This is really a myth: yes of course the climate has changed, but nothing like as rapidly as it is doing now.
And even if it was the case, that would be a pretty ridiculous argument given what else we know.

So where are the warnings against over-population and the "action plans" to reduce the growth then? I can tell you. There are none.
Many of these problems are caused by excessive population growth, lots of them in the areas that can least sustain them. So why don't the idiots who are currently gluing themselves to the M25 jump up and down about that?

ichi from your link; //Global temperatures are now at their highest since records began. In fact, 17 of the 18 warmest years on record have all taken place since 2001.//
It fails to say when records began, but also talks in terms of hundreds of thousands of years, & I definitely question that, # 17 of the 18 warmest years on record have all taken place since 2001.#

Nope, it is not save the planet, but it is Global Marxism and punish the wealthy time. My life cheered up considerably when I began to switch off the Boris Brexit Covid stations.
