Does this bear any relation to the British public's interest in her?

It's because Duchess implies Royalty and they are not supposed to mix with politics.

Royalty cannot use their influence where politics is concerned, so people are saying she is using the Duchess of Sussex name to influence the politicians in America.
I take it you have read what she has been doing recently regarding maternity leave for men?

No, I think they call it family leave.
Yes the Queen has an audiences with the PM but she does not pass comment or influence the PM, she has to remain neutral.

i dont think she remains neutral - she has to support the govt doesn't she, whoever they are?
isnt there a longstanding understanding that she wont dissolve parliament as long as they dont do anything extraordinary to make her do want to do so?

If the Queen or other members of the family felt it would be a good idea for men to have paid maternity leave like women do, they cannot phone Boris up and tell him this.
We have rules and regulations and laws that must be followed.
Meghan is using her Duchess title as she obviously feels it carries more clout.

bednobs, this is my last word on this as I don't think I'm expressing myself as clearly as I'd hoped, for you to understand.
It doesn't matter which country a 'Royal' is in, they cannot go tell a politician in that country that they need to change their rules.
If she had introduced herself as Meghan Windsor, there might not have been a problem, I don't know and I couldn't care less.
I was just pointing out that this seems to be the most recent thing that some people are complaining about.

The public seem to like whinging about her so perhaps the interest is there. Complain to the Express if you want less Meghan coverage.
