80 Seat Majority And…
…You have to rely on the Labour Party to save your blushes.
Nearly 100 Tories revolt and do not support their own Government.
Clearly a party deeply divided.
I wonder what the people of Shropshire North are making of tonights shenanigans ?

Of course there will always be some of a party’s policies that a voter may not agree with, naomi. But the idea that you “must” vote for someone, regardless, is not one I subscribe to. If there’s nobody I can truly support then nobody gets my vote. It’s too valuable to fritter away of the least unattractive option and, at present, none of the options are at all attractive. If enough people vote to elect an alternative to this current omnishambles then so be it.

I wasn't being entirely serious. Coalitions can lead to messy compromise where nobody gets what they want, so it isn't necessarily ideal either. On the other hand, the present approach is brilliant for only a minority, and an increasingly small one at that, because it inflates the scale of victory (or, at least, often has the potential to, eg the 1997 Election).
//It has no value at all if you don't use it...//
It has no value to me until I have somebody to vote for. I don't even have anybody to choose as a "protest" vote at present. It is no value to politicians unless I use it. The ideal result of an election for me at the moment would be a zero turnout. Unfortunately that would mean the current government continuing in power (as far as I am aware) but I can't do much about that. The notion that I must vote for somebody I don't find in the least bit acceptable is not something I will agree to. If there's nobody good enough to choose, I will choose nobody. That may lump me in with all those who do not vote because they simply cannot be bothered, but I'll have to live with that.

As I've many times before (not on AB) Capitalism is Crisis.. No Future!
As I've also said before (here on AB) I don't discuss 'politics'.
What I will say is, the current system is broken.. there must be a better way for all of us to PROGRESS towards a brighter future.
I do not have a party to vote for, none exist, I would have to start my own. I guess we should vote it's our duty in a democracy. ANY result is a compromise purely due to how the system is set up.
I'd agree, coalition governments result in more compromises.
I would conclude, to me with my optimistic hat on.. there could not be a worse government than the current one.. the odds must be likely that the next one will be capable of making things better..!!??

" - possibly but do you think they've had a fair crack at being the government in normal times? Almost immediately after the 2019 election it's been crises all the way.
