Number of cases is not irrelevant though.
I’d imagine there are more tests because more people are testing then asked because they’ve got symptoms or think they might have, and we know there’s a more infectious variant in play now as well.

//So if we test nobody and there are (very surprisingly) no positive results does that mean the virus has disappeared?// Thats silly point IMO. PCRs are generally testing people with symtoms (plus I accept some who pay privately as they have to to go or return from holiday). Why would we not want to check whether people really have Covid so they can take precautions, isolate or get treatment.
If we were doing 100 times as many PCRs on everyone just for the hell of it then the infection count would NOT go up x100- it might double at most IMO

//Daily cases peaked at 68,000 last winter - and we’ve already topped 106,000 now.//
Am I right in thinking that's a complete invention?
——
Do you actually follow the news at all ?
There are many spurious claims out there but generally the bbc is regarded as one of the more reliable media sources !

So you are disputing the figures given yes ?
Which sources do you use ? Facebook ? Or Dave in the bookies ?
Lucky you did not wet yourself
The egg on your face will suffice
So I wonder where the bbc did get their figures from then ? Please tell us because you obviously have a more reliable source

yeah but no but
so long as it fits the marxist narrative - Yemen, they had a christian woman doing charity, swathed in a doo-dah to respect local wishes and she said "Look at me everyone...."
They also mentioned in passing (literally at a gallop) a muslim group of surgeons who silently got on with their charity work - - not News at all, Muslims turning their hand to help rather than blow up maim and disfigure liddle children
AND
one fluffy little thing who was doing somehting mainstream marxist and said - "oh I was on covid and when figures came in - I said help I have never coped with percentages! I dont have to do that now thank god"
( so THAT's why they keep on saying 1 in 60 instead of 1.7% )

Yes, famlies I know with school children have boxes of the kits, and they are often handed out locally to anyone who wants them.
The gov site isnt clear about what counts in the test and positive results count's...my guess is its just lab based PCRs as theres little or no control over lFTs- you can report any result you want or just tell noone

Funnily enough as I was reading the previous page I was thinking 'I can see what's wrong with some of these people. They're watching the aBBC and they think it's true'
This page just confirmed it.
Not much to be said is there. They believe everything they see and hear. Hence they're constantly at Defcon1 and nothing anyone says will change their minds. All the money the Gov. pumped into ramping up the fear factor wasn't entirely wasted, I suppose.

Heard an expert on the 10 o'clock news ddeclaring that, in simple maths if the strain is 50% less dangerous but you have 50% more infections then the net patient number will stay the same, thus threatening the NHS, peace be upon it.
He seemed to forget the first bit where it's less dangerous when doing his sums.
I then thought to myself 'wonder if that's bobbinwales on t'radio'.
