I can't believe ah's responses to Gness who KNOWS what she is talking about - he's really scraped the barrel this time. How dare he dismiss her so lightly ??? I'm beyond disgusted.
And as for that vile Gill who also sexually abused the poor family dog, who couldn't speak up in its defence, I personally hope he is rotting in hell.

gness - // It tickles me now that Andy had to either agree with me or change his original opinion..... and he can't bring himself to do either......:-) //
First of all, let's be clear, I don't 'have' to do anything, and in this case, I am happy to do neither.
You and I have known each other a long time on this site.
I am fully aware of your history, and have offered sympathy and support to you on several occasions.
But equally, you know me, and you are aware of my attitudes towards abuse and abusers.
That is why I took offence at your imagined scenario, which you made up, put me in the middle of, and then condemned me - allow me to refresh your memory -
// So, Andy-Hughes....if your daughter was sexually abused by an artist of some sort then, if you considered his work exceptional, you'd still happily display his artwork in your home or maybe the local museum/gallery? //
You know me more than well enough to know the answer to that question.
If anyone had hurt any of my children, I would be making valiant efforts to insert his artwork into any orifice that would take it, with commensurate force to ensure a positive outcome.
And you know that, because you know me, and frankly, I deserve better than that from you, and on reflection, you might think about that.
I have no personal experience of abuse, nor does any of my family, and I am more grateful for that than I could express on here.
That gives me the luxury of the objectivity that forms my view.
Objectivity which your experience means you do not have, and I understand that.
But that is not my fault, and you should not be making it my fault by lashing out at me by putting into horrible scenarios, and then suggesting that I would act in a way completely against what you know to be my nature.
That is absolutely both unfair and offensive, which is why I withdrew from the exchange.
In case anyone is even slightly in the dark about what I would do, in your offensive story, I have stated what my reaction would be and it bears repeating - you know that because you know me better than to ever think otherwise.
In conclusion, no I don't agree with you, because your scenario is fictitious and no I have not changed my opinion.
I do hope I have clarified my position - upset as I am that I have to, to you, but I have done so.
Thank you for your attention.

Your personal animosity towards me has been advised ad nauseum by you, and you have indicated that you don;t care what I think.
But clearly you do.
I have known Gness longer and better than you, and I am more than aware that she knows of what she speaks.
I did not 'dismiss' Gness, lightly or otherwise, I don't normally dismiss people whose opinions on a subject I value, whether from personal experience or not.
By all means remain 'beyond disgusted' - my opinion of what you think and say is the very mirror image of yours - differing only in origin.
Your attacks have been from the start on this site, for reasons I neither know or care about. My responses have been to those attacks and nothing more.
As I said, I don't normally dismiss anyone, especially people whose input and experience I value, but since I value neither from you, I am delighted to dismiss you right here and now.

I do wonder, if in the wake of the Colston verdict, we shall see more of this wanton destruction.
What concerns me is that such destruction is carried out not from motivation that the world should be rid of such evidence of wrong-doing, whether the world wants to be or not, because clearly it is not being given a choice.
Rather more that it is motivated, as the Colston mob were, by an overwhelming sense of self-aggrandisement and attention-seeking.
The primary motivation of being 'woke' is ensuring that you let as many people as possible know how right-on you are, so you can bathe in their adoration.

You know me more than well enough to know the answer to that question.

But you are happy to keep what I would see as a reminder of a monstrous depraved sexual predator who not only abused children but also the dead.
Yes, you will once again refuse to answer whether you have binned the mug or still enjoy a beverage from it.

A bigger hammer.
I also think it's impossible to separate art from the artist. I used to love Lostprophets... and ended up throwing out every one of their CDs.
There is just no way I could ever listen to them again, without that crossing my mind- which would immediately remove any enjoyment or entertainment, for me. Music, especially, is communication... but I am not likely to know, or look for the background of every artist. However, if it becomes very public and I'm made aware, it changes my perception of them.
This is the problem with statues- they were ok when only 5 people saw them and nobody knew anything much about them. With the Internet... much less is hidden, let alone celebrated.

Does it occur to you that only you and I know what on earth you are talking about - so your point is entirely lost on the rest of the people reading it?
Yes I am refusing to answer your weirdly obsessive question - purely because it continues to irritate you, a response about which I could not care less.
Same time next month?

Let me start by stating that I completely understand and respect your viewpoint, even though it is the opposite of mine.
My issue with the 'bigger hammer' agreement is that we are encouraging anyone who takes it upon themselves to censor something to which they object with violent destruction.
An, as always, where do we draw the line?
Can I pop down to London and incinerate the Arsenal stadium because Stoke City were unfairly penalised in the 1972 Cup Final?
Using the approach of the 'yes' lobby, that's perfectly OK.
Except it's not.
