I hope the cat has or will be removed for its safety. What a horrible man!

If I had witnessed such abuse of a neighbour's cat, I quite simply wouldn't let up. I have done similar in the past until they had to respond. I also donate an amount to them every month, I have told them this will stop, if they don't help this cat (and the other one, I believe he has two).
That's good to hear, LB - I suspect that there are still pockets of local excellence managing to provide a decent service despite the lack of central leadership - that's also been my experience with other large charities that are foundering at a national level.
I apologise to the undoubted numbers of good local RSPCA workers for tarring them with a broad brush criticism that is (in my opinion) well deserved at a higher level.

Dave there is another side as a friend of mine, where I lived in North Yorkshire, resigned from managing an RSPCA shelter because she couldn't bear having to put so many dogs to sleep. As you will know there are just too many dogs without a home and if people don't adopt them then it's curtains for the poor things.
I see the Blue Cross is asking for a prosecution in the cat kicking case. Good.

What also annoyed me was I tried to email the Football Club getting an email address from their website, as expected after a few minutes, it came back with 'address not known' despite it being the address supplied. I suspect it has been blocked knowing, as they probably did, that there would be a lot of complaints. I'm pretty certain nothing will happen to this vile thug.
I am absolutely disgusted by this news. He should be sacked from the club, but what do they do? They let him play tonight because he is a good player, an absolute disgrace. As a cat owner and lover I was so angry when I read about this. These cats should be removed from his ownership immediately and he should be prosecuted. He claims it was a one off incident. Once is too often for cruelty to animals.
Yes it's disgusting and yes he deserves the disgust thrown at him, but should he lose his livelihood because of it? Not in my view - that's far too harsh and those that are calling for it sound a bit 'pitchforky'.
However, it will be interesting to see if he doesn't get the sack, given the teacher who slapped her horse did get the boot (which was also a too harsh a punishment in my view).
