wow! - why was he videoing it?
I don't know pp, but I'm glad it was videoed or the cat's treatment would never have come to light, as is the case with many acts of animal cruelty nowadays. Videoing most things does have it's good points at times !

I just heard on the news that he has been fined by his Club, didn't quite catch the sum, but it sounded like £1/2m !!
Good. I see he had his trainers on when he kicked it. So pleased they put it on the internet for us all to laugh at. Thanks mate.
He's been fined £1/4m apparently.

I would like to know where the fine is going. Hopefully to an animal charity.
I’m so pleased the cats have been taken away. He should be banned for life from owning any animal.
I think the fine is more about PR than punishment. Would Joe Bloggs have been fined 6 weeks wages, i wonder?

Also lost his Adidas sponsorship deal.
I stand corrected, apparently it's 2 weeks wages. He was only on £40k a week at Chelsea - supposedly!
A famous football "star" is hardly the same as Joe Bloggs doing it.
I, purrsonally, think that the guy has been punished enough for the incident. Most importantly his family has lost out on the love and companionship of their furry overlords.

If the RSPCA were to prosecute him I think that he will accept that he was wrong and pay any penalty that he has to. It will make the RSPCA look a bit more effective than they seem to be.

I don't know if he should get the cats back, there is no indication that this has happened before. If the cats were, prior to this incident, happy and settled and are happy to return to the household then it should be an option.

I know that some people will disagree with my opinion and that is not a problem. But I wonder how many of us haven't done anything silly/stupid in our lives (not kicking a cat!) all before the dreaded video camera.
I agree with you
I also agree that it was up to David Moyes to include him in the team last night if he wished.
And I speak as one who has a beloved pet cat. If anyone mistreated it they'd not be able to play football for a week.
1/4 of a million - that's a hell of a penalty......no pun intended.

While he is a total jerk/berk/whatever, I feel for his kids without their pets.....
I've heard that worse things than this go on in slaughterhouses.
These people (the ones who do these things) are so stupid and lacking in empathy or sympathy.
Wolf - I don't agree with you and I have addressed your last para. in my post at 9.39.

DTC - so, because his kids may miss their pets, they should go back to him to be booted about again when the mood takes him ?? Strange logic !

That's me finished posting on this thread now. The cats have been taken away from this thug and that's a good outcome ...
That's dismissive....^
He seems to be getting his come-uppance. Good!
I agree - my point with burley is that would he even risk doing this again....and I bet his kids love their feline friends....
Then, why did the kid put the cat on the worktop for his dad to slap it?
kids will be kids and to annoy his/her father, not thinking that this would be the reaction.....he/she has to live with this as well and, probably, given their blasé approach before their 'fine,' West Ham will spend £50k on counselling for the kid.
