How long can, or should, we stand aside while people are being slaughtered? Know all the reasons why we don't want to risk escalation, but if Putin opened extermination camps would that, at least, mean that we would do something?

I think if we did need to we should. But we almost certainly don’t need to. Ukraine has a huge army of well trained, brave and dedicated men and women. Give them the tools and they will get on and do the job

Are you suggesting that the UK should send in combat troops to Ukraine?

We didn't stand aside in Bosnia/Croatia/Kosovo. What's the difference? The Russians were very much in the Serb camp and I don't recall a world war.
// but if Putin opened extermination camps//
or if he grew another head and started flying around the room like one-winged bat ?

they are called Gulags

what if Boris started talking like Shakespeare....

This has to be AB
Difficult one.

I will defer to those who we pay money to make these decisions. I, and I suspect it goes for all of AB, dont have all the information needed to make any such call
I think if we did need to we should.
But we almost certainly don’t need to.

Ukraine has a huge army of well trained, brave and dedicated men and women. Give them the tools and they will get on and do the job
And you have no clue if anyone is helping them.

Some of the 'hits' have been suspiciously accurate as has the method of ambush. Very well trained clearly ;-)
by *you I mean us plebs.
What is clear now is that the Russian regime has slowly become a bloated and corrupt neo-Nazi state whose leaders are determined to take it away from Western values.
As long as that situation persists, regardless of what happens in Ukraine, the world especially Europe is going to have to get used to a wholly different security alignment
“And you have no clue if anyone is helping them.

Was that to me?
Not sure what you mean. Ukrainian forces have been trained by “us” for years and continue to be so
The UK is already aligned to that way of thinking.

That is part of the problem with the Ukrainians getting Visas. Russians have been found attempting to get in.
Ick, see 16:17. One of those posts where you need an editor when you see it land on the thread!

I am talking about ongoing 'operations'.
Sorry ymb I get it now.

But I think we do know
Probably the less we know the better and I’m glad that NATO has been tight lipped about what it’s doing now. Less bold statements and more discreet action is better
I do wonder why we tend to let Russia know what we are doing and when. Putin just keeps his mouth shut.

Sometime this week I remember seeing a picture / story of some country sending tanks to the Ukrainians. The picture showed them being transported, or ready to transport by rail. Forget what country was sending them. But why not just get on with it without letting Putin know. Don't make any sense to me . Plus it won't take much working out where in Ukraine the rail line will be for a missile attack by Russia.
The problem is that if Putin is allowed to continue, there will be no Ukraine left. Mariupol is now simple rubble, nothing standing intact.

I have just seen that there are several thousand young men pouring into Ukraine by the hour as private soldiers coming from all around the world, given the weapons Putin can be stopped, but at a terrible price, I fear the maniac may want to release chemical (or God forbid) nuclear weapons.
^^ Sandra, The tanks were from the Czech Republic, a NATO member,
If Putin wants to make the History books for all the wrong reasons, he won't make those history books if he lets off nuclear. There won't be anyone left to write them:)
Ick, see 16:17.
But mr Mason there was NO post at 16:17

(from Perry Mason, the case of the missing message)
16.43 Yep, thanks remember now. But there should just do it. If Putin accuses certain countries of helping, play the same game as Putin, lie about it.
UNGA now voting …
93-24 in favour but not I think carried
