The people have spoken, Boris and his party have lost two important by elections. Boris's own MPs were too frightened to get rid of him so the public have taken over and are going to do it for them.
Also the resignation of Oliver Dowden sent the Tories a message.
No Tory seat is safe anymore. These By election results will seep like poison through the Tory parties blood stream The exuses will start to be heard . But statistics are hard to ignore. This could be the beginning of the end of power for the Tories for decades. I hope.

In British politics there are now two blocs, the Tories and the anti-Tories. Take Tiverton. In the last two elections, Labour came second there. But in this by-election, they lost their deposit as their vote share dropped by 16 per cent. looking over the shoulder where I live - in 2019 the incumbent won with 55% of the vote, and it has been a Tory held seat since the constituency was formed in 1974.//
Lol, that was 3 years ago, when the electorate voted to keep Corbyn out, not Johnson in.
In those 3 years there’s been scandal after scandal from a PM mired in controversy his whole life.
Last nights results prove that as for whatever happened previously in Tory seats, all vets are off, his whole party know it and his MP’s gave him the heads up 3 weeks ago but he paid no attention.
A slew of high profile resignations and now the party chairman has chucked his hand in too.
Time you woke up and smell what you’re shovelling.

Lol, spite? You mean the sort of spite and contempt the Johnson government had for this country as they partied it up as we endured lockdown, fearful of being stopped and questioned by the Police whilst visiting sick relatives or checking on friends?
They were puking and punching each other in drinking binges, we were worried about which 10 people could attend the funeral!
You really must wake up to the fact that Johnson and his government have brought this country to its knees, then tried to change the rules so that they’re never held accountable for it.

I’m not shovelling anything FattichusInch - previous posts will show I’m not exactly enamoured with Johnson, but to suggest yesterday’s losses are a barometer of what will happen at the next GE is fanciful at best.

Another stinging assessment of the night's events here from Gavin Barwell, a former Number 10 chief of staff.
Mr Barwell, who served under Theresa May's administration, does not specifically call for Boris Johnson to go - but the implication is clear.
Saying it is "time to wake up before it is too late" in a tweet about Oliver Dowden's letter of resignation, he suggests "the Conservative Party is sleepwalking to defeat at the next election".
"Seats that have been Conservative for decades are at risk," he says.
Just so we’re clear, for the likes of Deskdiary and others, these are the words of staunch dyed-in-the-wool Tories who have held office in government.

It replaces Shropshire North in top spot, confounding Conservatives who mistakenly thought that things couldn't get worse after that mauling.

And the two by-elections were called because one Tory was jailed for sexually assaulting a boy and another resigned for watching for porn in the House of Commons.
What puzzles me is the Tories who seem obsessed with Johnson remaining as leader. Are they really saying that no-one else in the party has the drive, intelligence, charisma (and integrity) to run the country?
