The chances of any migrant being removed is absolutely minimal because it ain't running yet. Some virtue signalling fools are putting obstacles in the way. That needs sorting first. Yes there is nothing to prevent the illegals repeating the process of paying a fortune to return and then getting sent to Rwanda again; but being removed once is likely to sap...

Paigntonian, our courts gave permission for that first flight to go. The ECHR stopped it.

And those people are ‘fleeing’ a safe country - France.

paigtonian did you see the interview in the link? The smugglers themselves say it deters.
17.18, it doesn’t sound like the Danes are already doing it with great success as your other post indicated. Where does that come from, khandro?
just to be clear, the immigrants are diverting from the Uk to the land of Gness and Dave....
Of course it would deter. That’s common sense. None of them want to be sent elsewhere. They want to be in Europe - and preferably here in the UK. Even the Africans don’t want to be sent back to Africa!
Crikey DTC. That’s an easy way into the UK. A more perilous journey - but then just a stroll across the border.
One story on Sky and you're sold. You think that's the end of the argument. It's nonsense. If you're desperate to escape your circumstances you'll give it a go. So please balance that one report against others, see how this wondrous new policy works in practise, remember that no-one has yet been sent to Rwanda, that we have no feedback from Rwanda as to how things progress (because we haven't yet sent anyone). Good luck, by the way, to the LGBT+community, members of whom may almost certainly face discrimination, and worse. It's utterly appalling.
Tora: What a hoot. You actually believe what violent criminals are reported to have said.
No I don’t think it’s the end of the argument - and the people coming here on rubber boats have already escaped their ‘circumstances’. They’re economic migrants coming from a perfectly safe country - France - so the bleeding hearts are surplus to requirements. They are not fleeing danger.
Oh, and by the way, paigntonian, they’re not destitute either. They pay thousands to crooks for their passage - and your support of a welcome here for them is, in effect, encouraging that.
agree on the not so destitute remark....
> They’re economic migrants

In that case, why come to the UK?

It costs them thousands in smuggling fees, they put their lives at risk and we're not the most generous country in Europe towards migrants - Germany, for example, is more generous. If it's all about the money, why do they spend thousands and put their lives at risk to come here, when they'd be better off and safer in mainland Europe?
//..remember that no-one has yet been sent to Rwanda,//

And I would wager that nobody ever will.
Ellipsis, we’re not the most generous country but our benefits are easier - and quicker - to access - as is our health care.

17:49: "Tora: What a hoot. You actually believe what violent criminals are reported to have said. " - a sky journalist set up the interviews took a huge effort, did you see the video in the link? You think Sky news made it up?
Just a thought - where would you people who would encourage this draw the line?
How many should we take before we say no more?
Yep.
Crossings are up 200% on this time last year.

Definitely working. Heading for 50,000 illegal by the years end. But some Iraqi criminals are not happy so lrt’s all rejoice ;-)
yadayadaya - if they'd just done what I said and sunk the first dozen or so boats ....
> we’re not the most generous country but our benefits are easier - and quicker - to access - as is our health care.

So let's look at this. You've come from, say, Iraq, you're crossing Europe. You get to eastern Germany. You think, "I know, I'll cross Germany, Belgium and France. I'll get to Calais. I'll pay a people smuggler thousands and put my life at risk. I'll cross the Channel. I'll get to the UK and I'll be better off than I am here in Germany already."

It doesn't add up. Most of these people are not economic migrants. If they were, it would be senseless to pay thousands for their life-threatening crossing.
