I'm sure you're aware of all the other reasons they give and I've shown, logically, why it would make no sense for an economic migrant to come to the UK rather than stop off earlier in their journey, at more generous countries that don't involve life-risking crossings and huge payments to people smugglers.

But let's go with the assumption that they are economic migrants and let's go with Naomi's "our benefits are easier - and quicker - to access - as is our health care" as the reason they come to us.

Well, if that's true, don't we have a choice about that? Couldn't we make our benefits and our healthcare slower to access, bringing them into line with other countries? It would be a bizarre response to set up the Rwanda scheme rather than just make Britain a less attractive place for economic migrants.

It just does not add up.

When someone is doing something illegal then the response has to be to catch and stop them. It would be madness to let their acticity dictate how you run your country. You can't allow yourself to be controlled/manipulated like that. How we run our society and treat our citizens can not be under the control of outsiders.

Khandro, as you live in Germany, let's take Germany as an example. I'm sure you know:

* Germany is more generous to migrants than the UK
* Germany takes in more migrants than the UK

So Germany is not that unattractive, is it? You have to ask yourself why a migrant who had got as far as eastern Germany would keep going through Germany, Belgium and France, pay thousands for a crossing, and risk their lives, to get to the UK.
