The first two verses are

Paigntonian, your comparison with Starmer is appropriate. When parties are swaying between factions, such acknowledgments may seem pointless if not downright phoney. Boris left his party in a mess, as did Corbyn. Better in both cases for their successors to shut up about it, I think.

I realise I am very biased, but I found the speech to be very uninspiring. I know it wasn’t aimed at me, but I am not sure it was enough to quell the jitters within the party.
