Extraordinary she didn't see fit to acknowledge Boris Johson and give him one sentence of respect.

//Why do you keep resorting to these ad hominem attacks, naomi? Away from here you're probably a respectable, averagely-intelligent woman - it's all so unbecoming..//
It’s anything to deflect away from the character of Johnson.
Only the deluded fail to acknowledge his egregious reputation has always been in tatters.
It’s a scary mindset.
Truss meanwhile is just inept and the magnitude of the job is clearly overwhelming her very limited skill set already.

Paigntonian - I avoided the speech as I was scared of another "IT'S A DISGRACE" moment. However in her defence, I understand from what I've read that her speech was all about ̶s̶t̶a̶r̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶i̶n̶t̶o̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶c̶h̶a̶s̶m̶ anticipating future opportunities, so it makes sense for her to concentrate on what lies ahead as opposed to what's happened before.
Also, she praised Johnson in her victory speech last month.

Regarding her brightness...
I'm going on comments made about her from colleagues (on the Emily Maitlis / John Sopel podcast, The News Agents). Apparently she IS bright, fun and engaging but 'ideologically slippery'.
What some may see as idiocy is simply awkwardness. If the markets and public finances eventually respond to the mini (not really 'mini') budget positively, she won't be perceived as idiot but as a genius.
I remember Thatcher wasn't a hit with the party when she became leader. This smells vaguely similar.

Fatticus, Kwarteng wrote a thesis on the recoinage crisis under William III, so you can imagine how relevant that will be under William V.

everyone has some sort of intelligence, I suppose. But I referred somewhere earlier to her sheer lack of political nous in thinking that a great way to begin a new government was to shower the rich with party favours at a time of widespread economic crisis. How can you make your way to No 10 with that kind of tin ear?
