Wouldn't be the first time I've jumped the gun on this sort of thing. Feels surprising news and a huge blow to Truss, if she didn't have enough problems...

If Grant Shapps becomes Home Secretary that will be a massive humiliation for Liz Truss.

If she's indeed walked then it surely means the de facto end of Truss. If she's been pushed, then you might wonder if Truss were beginning to try and get a grip. Either way, more chaos.

You might be right there...although Truss paints herself and a staunch liberal (at least in terms of fiscal policy) she IS known for flip-flopping. Like Madonna or Dr Who, perhaps she's undergoing yet another reinvention

she's resigned as the result of "an honest mistake on her part", says the BBC. Strange wording. Maybe she'll prove to have accidentally broken the ministerial code in 16 places, as others have done before her.

Sky News seemed to be implying that Braverman might have been pushed because of a technical issue, rather than a political one -- something like using her private phone for Government business?
