Even those well known fifth columnists at the Financial Times now realise what an absolute disaster Brexit is for the UK.

"The referendum result was: Leave 17,410,742 - Remain 16,141,241. This translates to Leave voters comprising approximately 37% of the overall electorate so it's inaccurate to say most people voted for Brexit as some routinely claim."

Do some people routinely claim most people voted for Brexit?

I don't think they do, but they do state the majority of those that voted, voted for Brexit.
If they had to get 50% + of eligible voters no one would ever get elected in the UK or any referenda passed. Those who can be bothered to vote hold sway - those that aren't accept the result & shut the f up.

//Fatticusinch, I don’t know what you mean. Acknowledging shortcomings and retiring gracefully is very grown up. You should try it.//

Lol, the irony. Maybe practice what you preach? Be difficult though, you don’t acknowledge events in the real world, do you?
// Acknowledging shortcomings and retiring gracefully is very grown up //

HaHa... Yet there is no acknowledgement of
'your own' shortcomings. Tis somewhat disingenuous.
Fatticusinch, //Maybe practice what you preach?//

That's exactly what I did when I conceded to JDavis's towering intellect and bowed out of the conversation with him. Zebu missed it too. Cant think how. Probably another who doesn't read other people's posts. ;o)
Fatticus...practise not practice...and you keep telling me to have a word with my LEA about my spelling
Does it really matter what the benefits or not of Brexit are. We left by a democratic vote and no amount of moaning about the result will make any difference. We are out so have to make the most of it whether good or bad. All these threads everyday about the same thing will not make the slightest difference to the result.
// conceded to JDavis's towering intellect... (cut)... Zebu missed it too //

Presumably you refer to the sham statement you made earlier.

// You’re too smart for me, JDavis. ;o) //

Had you omitted the emoji then all ambiguity would have been dispelled. Unfortunately the post lacks the genuine feel you had meant to convey.
Oh drat! Failed again. :o(
// Oh drat! Failed again. :o( //

There goes that emoji again. I am not sure I believe you ;-)

Please don't spoil our fun. Repetition is good for us. It's only through repetition we learn to hone our skills!

Yes.
So only around a third voted to remain jd?
Little engagement with the points raised, instead the usual personal attacks and 'shut the f up' which is surely against Site Rules.
The key point is the simple YES/NO vote on a complex issue which most voters, including myself, weren't properly informed. Cameron's fault, as I said, but hardly meriting 'the will of the people' cliche.
//Cameron's fault, as I said, but hardly meriting 'the will of the people' cliche.//

Well he asked & those who could be bothered to vote spoke. How else would we decide things?

And if Remain had won does anyone think that Leave supporters and UKIP would have packed their tents & disappeared? UK politics would look a whole lot different than it does now.
Dave,

I've already said voters should been told about the different types of Brexit and been allowed to vote on that. Would have taken longer, obviously, but would have established 'the will of the people' more accurately, especially over such an important issue. It's that phrase
which seems to me the main argument of Brexit supporters.

Also it's created, or hastened, a division in the country just like Trump in the USA or the pro- and anti-vaxxers.
At last .The message is sinking in. 59% of Brits now realise Britain can not stand alone it is not strong enough and has not got the power it had in our Parents and grand parents days. Rejoin the EU now.
//or the pro- and anti-vaxxers.//

I don't think that's a "division in the country" - it's the vast majority versus a few idiots.
Bloomin adverts are back - I may have to go "inactive"!

Would it be possible for "donors" to have an advert-free experience with AB?
