Spicerack - if you’re going to copy something from an earlier thread, it makes sense to step back and look at context.

Anyone can send a tweet out. To build a discussion around a tweet is very different to building a discussion around a tweet from a trusted news source.

If Sky News tweets video clip a on the controversy around a proposal to increase fracking in the north east, the message is the video clip. If someone tweets their opinion of something - it’s just someone’s opinion.

Twitter as a platform is an untrustworthy news source.

Twitter as a conduit is fine.

To expand - even if Rishi secured 42% of the votes, if there’s a small section of Tory voters who cannot bring themselves to vote for him because of a perceived “lack of Britishness”, isn’t that a problem?

Not suggesting ALL Tory members hold this view, but if say, 10% do, wouldn’t this constitute a problem?

Rishi was an excellent chancellor, and helped millions when we needed it most- he has energy, charisma and is smart- if he wins the contest, we should unite behind him. The fact he resigned his post, I believe, shows that he was in tune with the public mood, and is an adept politician- nothing more, nothing less.

If you were a woman fighting in a constituency and you knew that a group of people wouldn't vote for you not based on your gender or ability it wouldn't be something to ignore - it'd be something to challenge.

Luckily for Sunak he was up against an unknown, a bozo and an incompetent.

When you consider that short lists that specifically exclude some people have become acceptable within our society, it's a bit more complex than that, SP. Frankly, anyone who condones that initiative has no business complaining when the people they, themselves, favour are excluded elsewhere.
