Yep looks like Richi Rich is the man!
Congratulations to Rishi and sincerely hope the government unites behind him for the sake of the country. Very glad it wasn't a long drawn-out saga and wish him the best as he cracks on with his new role.
At least he is a born in the UK PM ,and not an import from America ...PMSL.
so gully, at least 7 years of Rishi bashing ahead for you.......
Good!
I hope the party have learnt their lesson and unite behind him otherwise they are toast
I do prefer an actual contest, but I suppose the outcome of the last one has rather devalued the idea.

Good luck to him. I don't really see him rescuing the economy any time soon though, his predecessors have left such a mess behind.
//Pity, great pity.//

Why so?
I would have preferred Mordaunt but the important thing now is unite behind Sunak and get back to the vitally important work of wiping the floor with Labour.
Excellent news- we have someone who brings intelligence and dignity to the task of PM. That's an unenviable in-tray to have to tackle, so good luck to him!

Davebro,
The members have been denied their say.
Oh dear - what a shame. Now they will have to put up with who the MPs (who the PM has to work with!) preferred.
Another glass ceiling smashed as the Tories give us our first Asian Prime Minister. All those finger-pointing virtue signallers have found the finger pointing back at them. "Ooh but he's rich"- so a fair target for the daily hate from the lefty loudmouths on here, no doubt.
Hang on TTT - you were one of Boris's greatest fans before you defected to Morduant. Fickle - just like many Tories. I expect you're cross because you don't now get a paid-up Tory member vote?
After the mess the 'members' made of the last vote, i'm glad they didn't get a chance to repeat their mistake.
He doesn't have a mandate... Did I really just say that? So what!

As long as he holds on to the poisoned chalice and not tempted to drink from it, he'll do just fine.
diddly: "Hang on TTT - you were one of Boris's greatest fans before you defected to Morduant. Fickle - just like many Tories. I expect you're cross because you don't now get a paid-up Tory member vote? " - I still am a fan of Boris but he withdrew so I supported Penny, she pulled out so now we must unite behind Sunak. Not hard is it.
The powers that be managed to avoid it going to the members then.

Thankfully.
Thank goodness
Why on earth should unelected members choose a serving prime minister
