I don’t agree with it though. Blair and Brown dropped their political opposition to thatcherism for the sake of expediency but they also did things that no tory including thatcher would ever have dreamed of. And the tories at the time certainly did not consider them to be tory lite.

Is it a case of "anyone will do as long as they're a Tory"? // - yes for the purposes of the leadership contest now that's over it's in everyone's interest to unite behind the new leader. Not saying he's now my favourite but for the good of the party I'll support our leader. I'd rather have a non favourite Tory than Labour.
