A really silly comment, where his mother happened to be at the time of his birth is irrelevant. Bar one great grandfather (married to an English woman) everyone in his family is/was British.

There are many OPs on these boards who would regard the Daily Mail as sensationalist, inaccurate and scaremongering. A comic for the adolescent, some would say.
Anyway to summarise: One young Albanian man sneaks into a care home. His demands come to no avail. What follows is his arrest by the police.
The police later inform no crime was committed!
Subsequential reporting by a DM journalist, tells it like it was the 'Crime of the Century'. I am now left trying to come up with a good enough reason, why I should not agree with those OPs above.
I ask you, who in this day and age leaves their door/s open? Perhaps best if you sought your news from a more reputable rag.

but it's not a freak occurrence... millions of British people spend part of their life abroad and it is not uncommon for children to be born in these circumstances...
i and most of my family are uk born but i have at least three relatives who were similarly born in the USA... they would all be included in your "1 in 6" figure... so in a different way would the parents of Suella Braverman and Rishi Sunak... and there are millions like them too

I’m sure you’re right. So that flow needs to be physically stopped. One of the things which is currently causing government ministers to bleat that their hands are tied is our compliance with various international treaties. If these various treaties and agreements mean that a nation has to accommodate the uncontrolled influx of tens of thousands of people, many of whom simply don’t like it where they are, then they are unfit for purpose. That is why it is important that we withdraw from them as necessary.

That may be true of the first half. In the year to date it is common ground that around 12,000 of the 40,000 arrivals are Albanian. That’s 30%. And more than that, the vast majority of them are young males. There is adequate evidence – some gathered by the BBC, an organisation not renowned for its xenophobic and anti-migrant views – that the journeys of many of them are facilitated by organised criminals who are recruiting them to engage in criminal activities in the UK.

Why? Leaving aside the above, Albania is a peaceful nation with a stable government and is a candidate nation for EU membership. If people are suffering from criminal activities there (which seems to be the basis of most of their claims) that is a matter for the Albanian authorities.
There simply is no reason why asylum claims from anybody from Albania should be entertained. Anybody wishing to travel to the UK from Albania need not travel in a rubber boat and declare themselves destitute; they can simply apply for a visa..

So do you believe the 10,000 or so young males from Albania have fled persecution and are in genuine need of our help?. It's strange that I haven't heard of any widespread persecution of Albanian citizens taking place in their homeland. I'm sure one of the news sources would have noticed it by now if it was going on.
If, as I suspect, you are suggesting that they should each have their claims examined individually then it supports perfectly my contention that the various agreements, conventions and protocols by which we are bound entirely unfit for purpose. There is no evidence whatsoever that persecution of Albanians in Albania is taking place on a wide scale, if at all. Contrarily there is ample evidence that young males have set out to settle here simply to become involved in either illegal activities or the "black" economy with much of their income derived from that to be sent "home." In some Albanian towns almost the entire young male population has decamped for the UK. Yet there is no evidence from those towns of widespread persecution of those young males.
This is not confirmed simply by the ravings of what you describe as a xenophobic press. It is confirmed by the BBC and other sources not especially renowned for their tub-thumping xenophobia.
What will it take for you to accept that this country, and more importantly, its taxpayers, are being taken for one hell of a ride by chancers from Eastern Europe?

When the Daily Mail reports that one in six people in the UK were born outside it, for many the reaction will be "And?"
If you look at the Truss and Sunak cabinets you can see the children of many who were born outside the UK and and they're doing damn well (in their careers if not their mental capacity).

Not without the agreement in place that we had whilst we were a member of the EU and on a a more simplistic level - why would a nation feel any need to be helpful when our moronic ex-PM wouldn't confirm whether their leader was a "friend or foe".
Conservative 'leadership' over this has been appalling.
