A number of socialist MEPs were arrested on suspicion of corruption. "Suspician"? Some of us knew that is a given long ago. Brussels plod opened one of many such suitcases that are carried around in the EU HQ corridors of power, and were amazed to find it stuffed with cash. They must be as thick as our own scuffers. Did they think that all those designer bags were for their sandwiches? I start with the assumption that every suitcase there is stiffed with bent bribe money until the carrier can prove otherwise. The real question is who blew the whistle on this little operation, and why the top honchos in the Ponzi scheme are strangely silent. They have a lot of opinions on what doesn't concern them but nothing to say about this exposure of corruption in their midst. Perhaps they are keeping stum in case the canaries start to sing about them. More to come no doubt.
