IF you have guns in the home then its your parental duty to teach the child to be safe around them. and keep them out of reach at all times.
What is always a concern for everyone living in the US is that potentially everyone might be carrying a gun.
A friend & I were once standing on an empty above-ground subway platform in New York quietly talking when a guy (in a suit) came stumbling up to us, he seemed to be deranged or drunk, & started shouting aggressive insanities at us for no apparent reason, I was terrified he might reach into his pocket & pull out a gun - which he didn't thank heavens.
If that had happened anywhere else I wouldn't have felt so concerned, it's always a worry there.
