Putin’s ramblings yesterday as linked to by Buenchico above are beyond ridiculous.
So embarrassing even Pratskov declined to comment on them.
Meanwhile the situation in the ground in Ukraine remains difficult.
People say there’s a big Russian offensive coming but as far as I’m concerned we’re already seeing it now. They are desperately trying to cut off and capture Bakhmut and may have succeeded in the former. They launched a disastrously unsuccessful attack on the defensively strategically important town of Vuhledar (Donetsk). Appeared to be trying a counter offensive around Svatove (Luhansk) a town the occupiers cannot afford to lose. But latest indications were Ukraine had beaten that back.
They’ve also made next to no progress to advance in Zaporizhzhya towards Hulyaipole etc.
Their tactic, whether it’s Wagner or regular army, is to launch headless chicken kamikaze infantry attacks. Eventually the Ukrainians withdraw tactically for their own safety.
So this is currently a war of attrition. Most of that being on the Russian side. Trading lives for land. You don’t have to be a military genius to see that that is not a great tactic. But it’s basically all they can do before the gathering storm.
