after serving 8 of his 16 year sentence - do you think he could resurrect his music career? I still enjoy his records and would probably go to a gig if he did one locally. Or do you think he should be permanently outcast?
My abuser lived close by. Because I wasn't believed I saw him regularly for years. When I heard he had cancer I was pleased and I went to the Crematorium to watch the curtains close on his coffin.
What Glitter did never finishes for the children. It shouldn't for Glitter either.
Thanks for the link, Barry and your comments and Youngmaf's too.
When I was an adult I found out something that told me why my mother hadn't believed me when I was six/seven years old and threatened to send me to live with the nuns if I told anyone else. It explained it to me....and it hurt me.
Gness...
I used to visit my cousins in north Dublin every other year in the 80s, 90s + up to 2014. When one of my cousins revealed that one of her brothers had sexually assaulted one of his nieces. Sadly this news created a division in the family, nobody believed the niece!! Apart from one cousin out of 10!!! I haven't been able to return to those heady days!! All contact seemed to have been severed!! Tbh i never had time for the cousin who allegedly carried out the assault.
hm. I must confess I still like some of Rolf Harris's songs, but I wouldn't go to see him perform. I wouldn't listen to any of Glitter's but as I never liked them anyway, that's easy for me to say.
I guess I'm lucky, Piggy that it wasn't family. He and his wife were big noises in the Church of Scotland and "well respected"
I recall as a child hearing part of a conversation where it was being said he had to move from Scotland to England because of the girl. When I asked what happened to the girl I was quickly told he accidentally ran her over with his car. I doubt that now.
