Gary Glitter Released
after serving 8 of his 16 year sentence - do you think he could resurrect his music career? I still enjoy his records and would probably go to a gig if he did one locally. Or do you think he should be permanently outcast?

He might start with “I’m back (did you miss me while I was away?)”
But there’s more chance of Liz Truss coming back as the pope.
This on the day we also learn that Russians have been selling kidnapped Ukrainian children for porn videos.
Well what a surprise that is.
Glitter is actually lucky he was sentenced under the law as it pertained at the time of the offences.

Permanently outcast. His victims still suffering from traumatisation so why shouldn't he continue suffer.
A gig would be a travesty, with lots of young girls present. He has always preyed on such folk, and it is only regular police/official overseeing which will prevent him taking up where he left off.

Lanky, how many times do we have to say, "Gary's served his time, let him live a normal life." Just look at his history of his offending.

Vile creatures like Glitter shouldn't be "forgiven" just because some of their other behaviour (i.e. his music career) raised admiration and praise.
To cite another example, as an animal lover Lankeela, do you think the guy feeding a squirrel in this link should now have his current image banished and become widely admired ?

It depends what people mean by a “normal life”
In the first place I believe he’s been released on licence so is presumably, rightly, subject to restrictions that would practically rule out any attempt to do gigs again. I can’t believe he’d want to anyway.
If I had any Glitter records I’d probably still listen to them if I wanted as not listening to them wouldn’t really punish anyone but me
