Kier Starmer, as always, wants a snap election, as does the Lib Dem man (never can remember his name) but as far as I can see Sunak hasn't said anything. Jacob Rees Mogg, however, appears to think the next election will take place next year - when it's due - so please enlighten us. Where are you getting your information from?

Both links clearly show it is speculation by others. Hardly surprising we will get this at least weekly until he finally calls the election.
There is no reason he would call an election. Sir Kier is digging his own hole and has now twice u-turned on policy in the last week. Sunak is not Johnson. He is a clever patient man but must have an edge or he wouldnt be that rich or in that position. Sir Kier on the other hand....

Well we can make the most of the questions asksed ZM.
Perhaps the best way to deal with this is to debate amongst ourselves ignoring the daft posts put up? I see this has pretty much happened on other threads and they can be quite good. To my knowledge Gulliver is not precious of his posts as some are and takes as well as gives.

rishi sunak does not have a mandate to be prime minister and everybody knows it. the party did not allow the membership to vote on his becoming leader because they knew he would lose, they did not allow a vote among tory MPs because he would have lost, and they did not take it to the public because he would have lost…
some tories may also believe that an early general election would be the best way of minimizing the party’s losses… i.e. take the hit and lose power now in order to fight by 2028 or risk being wiped out in 2024… i cannot say i agree that they will be wiped out next year but some people obviously do think so
gulliver is quite entitled to draw attention to this as some newspapers have speculated about it… he is not obliged to post a link either.
