Barclays Bank is just as culpable as Coutts or any other financial institution in their Draconian mishandling and heavy handedness when dealing with innocent ,,until proven guilty ,,peoples accounts.
Far be it for me to cast aspersions on your rigorous defence of these banks but I can’t help feeling it’s more your personal dislike for Mr Farage’s politics. How can you defend the treatment of a young girl by the bank because of her Grandfather and her uncle is a Viscount?

He didn't personally name the bank but it is believed and has been reported particularly in the link from Dominic Lawson that I resent to SP that it was Coutts bank

The late Queen banked with Coutts and the Royal Family are apolitical (or so they must have you believe). Coutts should know better.

I think you have to have £500,000 to open an account with them, so I've heard. I do digital medical transcriptions for a company who bank with Coutts. I might have to consider not doing any work for that company any more.

You may find yourself without banking facilities if they see you as taking a political stance.

Of course there's the other option of not being noticed at all.

That's a splendid idea - this can work two ways.

Coutts is owned by Natwest whom I've been with for donkey's years, in fact since it was The District Bank. If nothing is done soon to correct this situation I could seriously consider moving my account, though the problem would be, as they seem to be working as a cartel, to whom could I move it ?

The government must act. Owning a bank account is a right for every citizen in Germany & I think most other countries.

The Post Office Bank was originally government-owned, & could have been a bank to turn to for Farage & others, but since privatisation this is no longer the case.

No it isn’t- unless you believe that banks are closing down the account of those who hold views they disagree with…and that’s utter nonsense.

If it were true, how have the BNP, Britain First, Reclaim, the ERG, Gary Lineker, Katie Holmes etc etc etc all got bank accounts.

Fight credulity.
