Yawn - I met the man once, at my business school, a very erudite and impressive man that he was. One may differ on one's conclusion of what he said but that speech was thought through, deliberate, thought-provoking and delivered with his aplomb. It's still relevant and worth debating.

For all Andy's bluster and lofty name-calling, Powell's speech stands. You may disagree with Enoch, that's your right; but the fact remains that history has proved him completely right, and his words are indeed prophetic. Attempts at multiculturalism have failed, and the determination of some immigrants to completely ignore British values and culture has only increased division. Attempts to quote out-of-context snippets of his excellent speech only serve to underline the stubborn ignorance of those proved wrong.

That did not happen.

Therefore his prophesy was wrong.
