'Nigel Farage has topped a poll on who should be the next Tory leader, with Suella Braverman second and Boris Johnson third.

The Express asked readers who they thought should replace Rishi Sunak as he faces a crisis over the Rwanda scheme.

As of 6pm yesterday, more than 5,000 people had voted in the survey on this website.

Mr Farage, the former Ukip and Brexit Party leader who is currently taking part in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here, came first with 41 per cent despite not currently being a Tory member'

Polling shows that were Farage to lead the Reform Party that party would poll a lot higher in an election. I've no idea how likely that is: I suspect he'd rather be top dog in a smaller party but who knows.

Meanwhile, will Reclaim hang on to its one seat?

Who knows, polls are notoriously incorrect or misleading.

Bottom line I think is there isnt a hope in hell of 'Sir' Nigel being leader of the Conservative Party.

Would Richard Tice step aside & hand the Reform leadership to N.F. though ?

The chief reason for the referendum was indeed to try to face down the Tory euro sceptics. I remember Matthew Parrus saying at the time that he'd be better to let a lot of them defect to UKIP because of course Roy is quite right: that is a wasted vote in the long run: in the short term it may cause electoral grief but ultimately as we see time and again the two main parties in our system always prevail.

The problem with the idea really was that they might not have  left - not enough of them anyway

What I've not been able to find is a poll on how the Tories would fare nationally with Farage at the helm

I voted for  UKIP purely to make Cameron aware that there was very strong feeling in the country against the EU and to hope to force him into offering a referendum if he ever wanted me to vote Tory again.

I think the Express poll indicates that. The top three are all right wingers & Farage got the clear majority from them.        If it was 'for real' I think he, & by extension the party, would do very well & claim back the red wall which they are about to lose big time as things stand.

A poll of some Express readers equates to a national opinion poll? You need to rethink that.
