I just think they should be forced into having talks, both sides and not stop until they sort something out.  As it stands one side say they wont hold talks unless strikes are called off and the other wont stop strikes unless the other agree to talks.

They've been offered a more than generous rise, they already had 10.3% in Sept 23, they now want an inflation busting 35%. The 10.3 was too much if you ask me.

Well is there is a shortage after that then market forces will push up wages naturally. Supply and demand dear boy. My guess is that most of them will get rude awakening if the looked for other jobs and quickly realise what a good thing they are on already. You have to call the bluff of these people.

Highly irresponsible.  The medical profession used to generate respect automatically but no more.   I look at that lot and despair at the fact that I have to trust them with my health.

That's quite a gamble to bet people's lives on. An NHS which is already struggling with staffin overnight loses a further chunk of it's workforce may well be hearing the final nail in it's coffin. This isn't the miners Tora, this is people's lives at risk.

indeed. the trouble with "leaving it to the market" is that markets are inherently volatile. ok when you're talking about consumer goods but not something with inelastic demand like health services. the market needs to be kept out of health... unfortunately governments of all stripes have failed to do that.

Striking for a week is one thing, what you're suggesting could cause long lasting and possibly permanent damage to the NHS.

No mozz because they know they are on a good thing as it is. Very few of them will leave, we must call their bluff. They are on at least £32k even while training. It'll take retraining in another job and I doubt they'd get anything like that straight away.
