A Cadbury store has been criticised by a Christian campaign group for advertising chocolate Easter eggs as "gesture" eggs.

//According to the Daily Telegraph, the shop in Springfields Outlet in Spalding, Lincolnshire, was offering a two for £10 deal on the "gesture" eggs.

Cadbury's owners said it had "no involvement" in the promotion. //

Whoever came up with that gem needs to get back to basics.

I think I would give that shop a 'gesture'☝ if I lived in that town.

Origin of German Easter Hares

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter_Bunny

"The fish on Good Friday, the Simnel cake, the Hot Cross buns, the lamb on Easter Sunday, and the Eggs.... all of it is symbolic and it is all part of our culture."

and how does someone calling easter eggs "gesture eggs" take any of that away? i daresay observance of easter has changed a fair bit over the years!!

12.35 Bednobs/  Think Bournville have one and Thorntons used to stock them if a branch near you.

I really think you're serious.

it doesn't. you're just complaining.

Question Author

Untitled, you're right. I am complaining.  Which bit of 'Gesture egg' says Easter to you?

Question Author

Barsel, hmmm ...

Which part of Ramadam lights says Easter to you?😡

slow erosion of tradition and culture, like flying the union jack, right wing if you do, it gets worse to, trans.. toilets sports prisons schools pronouns cancel culture, books films tv adds etc. oh and women can have penises, chest feeders....insanity.

"  Which bit of 'Gesture egg' says Easter to you"

the bit where it's a chocolate egg sold at eastertime

"culture" isn't about what things are called lol, it's about what people do. easter would not be less eastery if the eggs were called gesture eggs instead of easter eggs... and this isn't even what happened. it was a sign in one shop!

Question Author

Untitled, funny you should automatically associate chocolate eggs with Easter - that in itself says much about the tradition and culture you say doesn't exist - but that aside if it's so very unimportant why are you taking the trouble to argue?

because i'm in an urgent care waiting room with not a lot of entertainment

"that in itself says much about the tradition and culture you say doesn't exist"

where have i said it doesn't exist please naomi? give a specific example.

thanks moorea7, i dont think thorntons have shops any more!

Easter was hijacked decades go and you never noticed. You not only failed to object, but you happily bought into lining the pockets of confectioners and the food industry. A bun with a icing cross on it is decoration. It was done to sell more buns, not  for affirming your religious beliefs.

Christians should be boycotting products made by exploiting the christian faith for commercial gain. Instead, the should be applauding those who seek to sell their sugary sweets as a nice surpise gift, instead of misappropiating their faith for money.

Goodbye England

All part of the changes we must make to accomodate those who have a different culture to us.

I am not Christian in any shape or form, but Easter is Easter so leave it alone.

Still should please the communists on here I suppose.
