an aid convoy supplying gaza was hit by an israeli airstrike, killing seven aid workers three of whom have been confirmed to be british.

World Central Kitchen was one of the main organisations left that was still supplying food to the population of gaza (about 60% of what gets in) and has now paused its operations.. they say that they liaised with the IDF and were fired upon anyway

almost 200 aid workers have been killed in gaza since october

was this really an accident?

continued from above....would be a good way of doing it. Create a famine. Hospitals destroyed so they have no medical capibilities. Israel have a lot to gain from these "accidents". Of course, Israel wouldn't do that on purpose, would they? Would they?

That doesn't answer the question.  Has Hamas offered to surrender in order to bring a halt to the war?

Question Author

to the best of my knowledge no

I think if that was the case Retro, Israel would have said that rather than claiming it was a mistake or friendly fire or whatever today's excuse is. Why would they prefer to look incompetent than admit to killing armed guards?

Thank you.  Got to ask just how distressing all this is for them then.

This was started by Hamas and can be ended by Hamas. If they cared one Iota for the Gazans et al they'd surrender and hand over the hostages. End of.

Let's see how long it takes Israel to explain exactly what happened and why.

If we look in our own back yard, it seems to take a long time to figure out simple things like whether Michelle Mone or the Post Office did anything wrong. So goodness knows how long even we would take to expose the truth in a dirty war like Gaza, where truth is the first casualty ...

Question Author

surrender is not really an option unfortunately because the IDF frequently fires open enemies who are surrendering

you can't surrender to an army that doesn't accept surrender

I wonder how willing you'd be to repeat that statement as nauseum if the roles were reversed. If it had been the Gazans responding to Israeli atrocities in October, would you be so forgiving on them laying waste to Tel Aviv? I think not.

I did not state that these Brits werer armed. I doubt very much if they were armed. What puzzles me is how can they be described as security if they enter a war zone unarmed where the bad guys are.My initial point was that these ex vets were not doing it for free in their own time. I would not go so far as to call them mercenaries but lets get this into perspective they were doing a job and not, as described ,aid or charity workers.

Has anybody described them as security Retro, aside from your personal interpretation of events? I thought they were humanitarian aid workers.

"What puzzles me is how can they be described as security if they enter a war zone unarmed where the bad guys are"

i'm sorry retro but you clearly have not read any of the links. they were in a deconflicted zone that is pretty barren and travelling on a pre-arranged route in a corridor that had been designated by the IDF... they were also in frequent communication with the IDF including while the attack was happening. they weren't "where the bad guys are" as you put it

Question Author

and by "pre-arranged route" i mean a route that they had arranged to take with the IDF specifically so that they would know not to target them... they were also travelling with their charity's logo clearly marked on top of the car and identified themselves to the IDF after the first strike. they were all then killed in a second and third attack.

untitled, you're being disingenuous.  Hamas wouldn't surrender by coming out with their hands up.  It would be a formal surrender with a pledge to release the hostages immediately.  That hasn't happened.

Anyone who thinks this started on October 7th with the Hamas attacks is talking gibberish.

The Isreali / Palestinian conflict DID NOT suddenly start last year.

//All three were working for a private firm providing security to the aid convoy// The company was Solace Global

SP, most people are aware of at least some of the history.  This particular conflict began on 7 October last year.
