My husband is American and loves Britain. He says what does it for him is the fact that you can drive an hour or so anywhere and get a totally different culture, accent and feel for the country.

What makes Britain great:

Our green countryside. I know we moan about the rain, but wherever you go in the UK it is green with grass and trees. Go to Spain for example and it is all dull and arid.

That we are an island: I love the fact we are an island and have a magnificent coast in every direction.

Footpaths: Its great we have so many public footpaths over our most beautiful countryside.

People who look after the old buildings and countryside: People like the National Trust, English Heritage, Ramblers Association etc

The BBC: The BBC are one of the great achievements of the UK and we should be proud of them.

Our history: Shakespeare, Newton, Churchill, Brunel, Elgar, Turner, Wren, Turing, Babbidge, Harrison (clocks), Dickens, Wordsworth, Chaplin, our scientists, inventors and artists.

Thats enough for now.
