I am bemused.Tom Bradbury on discussing Gordon Brown potentially being the next PM - said he may be too Scottish for the English middle class.(Leaving aside Tony Blair is Scottish).
What does that infer?Surely any nationality within GB are entitled to be PM.Are we deemed inferior or could that be interpreted as a racist remark?

Quite a few things the Scots have got that we have not.
I believe there are no Student Fees in Scotland
Homecare for the elderly is better in Scotland and National Health in certain areas is better than England.
And even the poor old concorde has a covered home in Scotland whereas it is out in the wind and rain down in Bristol.
It seems to me that the Scottish Parliament can vote for a better way of life north of the border in certain areas but the numerous Scottish Ministers and MPs in this country vote against these things becoming law in England. I also presume, rightly or wrongly, that England is subsiding Scotland upto a point in order for them to enjoy the privilages
I am not knocking the fact that the Scots have these things but am knocking the fact that Labour and Liberal Ministers are mainly Scottish. Why cant they stand for office in Scotland.
ludwig-good point- which can also be applied to BBC Scotland-have they any English employees at all?
Drusilla-good point-I also support devolution for the English, the Scots and Welsh are welcome to do their own thing.
Those 'Scottish Waters' and the concomitant oil, belong to England by right of conquest.
Thank you for the sensible answers.
To the ones who cant read and respond to a perfectly good discussion point without being rude- I would like to thank you for enabling us to have a better education system. Now what are we going to do with all the Tax we pay which obviously doesnt benefit any one as apparently according to some we are subsidised by England mmmm?
Ludwig - hate to tell you pal but get your facts right before you show your ignorance.
Bernardo - Heard of a dictionary - that is a book where you are given definitions (meanings) of words. You will find that I was quite correct to use the word infer as I chose to do.You forgot to add to the discussion however.
PMSL at some of the answers. You dont half rise to the bait do you?
Some,in a retrospective way would appear to be jealous of any one who is not English.
searchme - honestly stop digging that hole or you will be enjoying the sunshine on Bondi Beach.
I, in my defence gave a hypothetical comment - had the Nationalities in my Q been reversed - I dont think even I as a Scot would think that to be fair.We are, after all one Nation.
Yeah well searchme, England is very good at "conquest" hence the wonderful situation we have in the North of Ireland at the moment.Of course the English consider all of their "conquered" neighbours to be inferior,(not their oil though apparently) unfortuneatly it's something as an inferior Celt you just have to live with.
Gordon Brown is probably considered dangerously Scottish, but at least he's not from the North of Ireland. If you think the English aren't bigioted about the race of their Prime Minister, just earnestly try and imagine a man from Belfast as your leader.
ludwig - anyone can stand for Parliament regardless of where they were born.Even your vitually nil comment (which I suspect would be your let out clause) doesnt cover you because all MP's represent their constituents In Westminster,London, England. We are a United Nation so that should be the case not what middle England think.
E-Mail BBC Scotland and I shall guarantee there will be English people working there, why not?Same as STV BorderTV,Grampian TV.My cousin works for BBC Oxford and she's Scottish.
Stevie - did you in fact read my original post?
Re your second point - what does that tell you if Scottish people have more chance of succeeding in a country ten times the size of theirs and becoming leaders of their chosen party.Should any English N.Irish or Welsh canditate choose to stand for election in Scotland then its up to the electorate - that is what we call a Democracy.
Still dont know where 'The English middle class' come into the potential election of a PM being too Scottish.
No-one has answered my Q.Ignorance must be bliss!!
(Apart from a few 'who got it')
