Of course, then it'll be ready for when this country becomes an islamic state.
In seriousness, the Muslims own the land its to be built on, it all depends on planning permission, and I don't believe it should given, not for this, it'll be another nail in the English coffin.
Let me also ask, the accommodating Thecorbyloon and ladyboyg1, this hypothetical question. What if they wanted to clear Trafalgar Square and build it there? Just interested to see how far your sense of tolerance would stretch.
What kind of alternative-dimension, peculiar logic is that?
"And what would you think if the Muslims proposed shooting all your children and dancing on your graves and then building a replica of Ken Bigley's face on it so large it could be seen from space..? Would you let it happen then, you damned tree-huggers? Then you wouldn't be so liberal, eh? Eh? Eh? I've got brain problems me..."
Who's proposing to do such a thing? No one. Precisely the same number who would think demolishing Trafalgar Square was a good idea, regardless of what it was being proposed to replace it with. And, of course, it should be completely obvious that such a thing would never be allowed. Ever. What a wierd thing to say!
The proposed Mosque'd be built on an area of waste ground in east London that has been unused for many years - I happen to know because I pass it on the way in to work every morning. It's been derelict for at least 20 years to my knowledge, and possibly much longer.
It may come as a huge shock to you but life does not revolve around London, let alone Trafalgar Square. They could turn it in to an amusement centre for all I care.
Of course what I meant to say was, it would be the end of civilisation as we know it, the sun would not rise again and Eastenders would not be shown before midnight. Where would all the pigeons go?
We all know that nobody would ever suggest such a stupid thing as proposing to build in the mosque Trafalgar Square. As it has been mentioned, it will be built on derilict land, so what's the harm?
Call me cynical if you like, but the mosque would be built clos to the Olympic site. Are the planners hoping that this would reduce the threat of terrorism. If so I think they are wrong because mosques are being blown up in Iraq every day.
Yes, I don't see why not. London is a fabulously multi-culteral city so diverse projects such as this can only add to that. I think we should be quite proud.
I think, in all seriousness, you have to look to the future, and how the area will become, AND become populated, if a Mosque of this size is built, also, and I know, like all religeons, there are different sects of the Muslim religeon,
We don't know yet, but just imagine if its Sharia thats practiced there, Sorry, but if it is, then God help us all.
Since i live round the corner from where they are proposing this mosque to be, i would have to say no and if i didn't live around the corner i would still say no. Everyone is entitled to their religion but i don't see why islam gets first choice. Build the mosque next door to number 10 downing street and see if Tony and the crew like it.
