Sorry if i'm being think but why to these outfits exist at all? why don't people just save whatever each week and instead of having vouchers that they can spend in some shops at marked up prices and no change they would have cash that can be spent anyhwhere? I don't think saving out of benefits would effect benefit entitlement.

I dont think you should take the earlier post too literally. Most of the people I know who save for these coupons work hard and know someone at work or have a neighbour who is acting as an agent for these companies. The reason they dont put the money in the bank instead is that for most people on average incomes, their standing orders for bills etc take up most of their monthly salary.Putting money towards vouchers on payday ensures that Christmas is covered. Its all about convenience at the end of the day.We don't all have a Coutts membership unfortunately :-(
single line answer.....

Because the people who use them are people who can't trust themselves to save any money
lots of people dont have bank accounts
^^^ yea bednobs people over 95 and tramps
The hampers contain economy food so youre paying full price for an economy Christmas, better to join a Christmas club at your local supermarket.

isnt it great we are all so perfect we dont need to save for xmas ? snobs
what a bunch of ***** some of you posters are and have no place to comment on such matters.silly little eejits who should be out with their friends on a saturday night (if you had any). The sad thing is most of you will always be friendless and opinionated about things you cannot understand.emotional intelligence is a very valued trait but you eejits will never have that.have a nice day.
For whatever reason lots of perfectly normal, prefectly nice people DON'T have bank accounts Madarlow, not just "tramps" and the over 95's. Also some people need to put money into other people's hands for Christmas because certain members of their own families might have issues and will screw it up for the rest. There's no danger if you are on a low income and get into financial difficulties of it getting swallowed up in an overdraft and the bank nabbing it etc etc etc, the list of reasons why is endless. I'm amazed that so many of you have either always had too much, or have forgotten what it's like to be poor. I certainly haven't forgotten, and this is a considereable blow to people who've saved all year on a limited income. A bit of compassion rather than smugness wouldn't go amiss once in a while would it?
dont give these ***** the time of day by addressing their pathetic answers.
But this question is? noxlumos and sandg2444

I can take Ward-minty's answers at the best of times because he;s consistent and he's 'old'.He has the right ot be opinionated, depsite the fact he is a bit contorversial with his views.what i cant tolerate is silly little 18-35 year olds with no life experience airing views about 'tramps'.that derogatory term is rairly used these days, and only by the unintelligible people in society when it is.young fools with no life experience or emotional intelligence don't realise the complexities of homelessness.A lot of people who are homeless only are because they suffer from schizophrenia for instance.this illness makes people opt out from any contact from society and many of them wont even be able to relaise they are entitled to benefits , let alone have the frame of mind to be able to go up to benefits offices and seek help.I just cant stand spoiled kids with no life experience judging others and not being challenged on their naievity.hopefully most of them will grow up and develop a social conscience.the rest will become tories no doubt.
by the way, i meant 18-25 year olds.(not 35)

Hes not a nice person; just look at his posts wishing that another answerbankers parents would suffer a violent death.
The sooner this idiot is banned from the answerbank the better.
But he's extremely funny though
