Okay, I know its the Daily Mail, but this is a question that must be in everyones head, and it worries me, bacause if it happens, and I think it will in my lifetime, it'll be Sharia Law we'll be under.

i wondered how long before old enoch's speech got mentioned... it wasn't true then and it isn't true now.

Plus as said a tiny minority religion will not seize power over the whole UK - it just simply isn't possible or indeed probably. Sharia law isn't even all that popular amongs the vast vast majority of muslims let along the rest of the population...
so NO the future is not muslim
infundibulum, Kromovaracun and Oneeyedvic
Thank Allah, God, Krishna, Secularism or whatever; that you are out there as the articulate voice of reason.
As a white feminist British person I would rather wear a veil, (in my opinion for all the patriarchal oppressive reasons that the veil is worn) rather than live in a society in the British Isles that support some of the racist views that have been aired on this thread. I have lived through the 60's 70's 80's 90' and in 200+ and consider we are more compassionate and concerned about the welfare of others than we have been before - thats not to say we do not have a way to go. But I rejoice that we have such diversity in our society. No I do not agree with fundamentalist Muslims, Christians, Jews or any other ideology that considers it to be better than other human beings.
You know what is weird I used to have this sort of argument with one of my Grandfathers in the mid 70s who was born circa 1890 about how England had gone to the dogs. Strange that he used that expression given he loved dogs if not women, his child, non whites, and the working classes (which he was). Are we just churning out the same phobic rubbish just slightly amended to keep it apparently fresh?
ruby yes we are more concerned about the welfare of others and that is our downfall because we are neglecting our own issues ie the nhs, looking after the elderly, housing the homeless in a nutshell looking after our own.the british government has done more than enough to accomodate asylum seekers and their dependants.you seem to live in an idyllic world where everyone gets on and is tolerant but sadly its not like that.enough is enough.if you deem that my views are racist well that is tough.and iggyb how can you say that enoch powells speech is not accurate.he predicted that the uk would be awash with immigrants is that not the case?not only do we look after immigrants but radical british muslims are a major terrorist threat at this precise moment and where do they originate from?yes thats right probably the very immigrants enoch powell was referring to in 1968.
"we are more concerned about the welfare of others and that is our downfall " - it is a shame you think like that.

Personally, that is exactly what makes me proud to be British.

Just think about what would have happened in the second world war if the government cared more for the citizens of this country than they did about the rest of Europe.

Krom, It doesn't matter if Sharia Law has a lot or none Koranic authority, its happening.

As for the vast majority of Muslims, do they abhor Sharia Law?, they don't subscribe, certainly, but they are sure keeping quiet, with just a few voices against., and as for PC, no, its not fading away, don't you still have to watch what you say and do, just in case someone eavesdropping reports it?.

oneeyedvic, whose talking about voting?, they certainly aren't., as far as the Mail is concerned, its the second most read paper in Britain, so your actually saying that at least half of all peaople in the country are gullible.

aog, my apologies, I have read your posts, and agree with most of what you've said. but because of my home situation, I don't have that much time, so if just one person has said something I agree with, I tend not to post, eg, so far, this complete reply, has taken me the better part of an hour, and counting, thats leaving and coming back to the comp consistantly, and you've touched on the West Lothian question, another bugbear of mine, but i'll leave that for now.

Lonnie: I meant the definition of PC was fading away. It appears to be just slapped on anything negative (like, for example, 'gay' is among teenagers).

Claiming that Islam in itself is a threat (which appears to be the implication, please forgive me if I'm mistaken) because of the existence of fanatical Islam is like taking the Westboro Baptist Church as representative of the views of Christianity as a whole - it makes no sense and is stupendously ignorant.
Question Author
No probs Krom, to put things into perspective, I don't think Islam, per se, is a threat as such, but I do think the Sharia form is, they are the ones corrupting the minds of Muslim youth, but I still stand by my worries about what I think will happen.
"they certainly aren't., as far as the Mail is concerned, its the second most read paper in Britain, so your actually saying that at least half of all people in the country are gullible." - what a typically Daily Mail way of massaging figures.

Actually just over 2.3 Million people purchase the paper so around 4% of the population are gullible.

Hardly "at least half the population"!

oneyevic we cross swords once again................if we werent spending millions of pounds looking after asylum seekers and their dependants then there would be more money for the nhs,old folks homes etc etc we have done our bit to help people who need a safe haven and britain has been taken to the cleaners by immigrants who abuse the system.i have served our country in iraq oneyevic and seen good friends killed in action.do you think my fallen comrades and the millions who died in two world wars would have wanted our country to end up like it is?i can honestly say i dont think they would have.enoch powell hit the nail on the head in his 'rivers of blood' speech in 1968 i bet he is spinning in his grave along with millions of british soldiers.
You're aware that 40% of those in ethnic minorities live below the poverty line in Britain (i.e. earn 60% or less than the average white Briton)? They're just as qualified for welfare as anyone else with British citizenship who are in such a position.

I don't think you have the right to assert what those lost in WW1 and WW2 fought for. In fact I'd say they were fighting against the idea of a state which discriminated in such a manner.
dont talk like a clown of course immigrants are on 40% less than the minimum wage its because they arent even supposed to be here they dont even have proper national insurance numbers and its unscruplous job agencies that employ them.wake up and join the real world.
Muslims have deep-rooted beliefs that nothing will make them renounce?... so do most of the people posting on this thread, it seems. So, is utter certainty in your own rightness a good thing or a bad one?
jno you have to have a belief in your feelings and be focused 100% on your aspirations and not let anyone try and fool you into thinking otherwise.as i have said i was in the staffordshire regiment for 18 years and seen some truly horrific sights and lost some friends along the way there have been places i have been and thought 'why the f**k am i here?' but i always thought i was doing the right thing as a soldier if you believe you are right you stick to your guns no matter what.i have been in situations where i knew i was in the wrong and probably doing the wrong thing but in life it is kill or be killed and fortunatley i am still here but i hate the way our country is going and so do millions of others.
stokeace you wrote "dont talk like a clown of course immigrants are on 40% less than the minimum wage its because they arent even supposed to be here they dont even have proper national insurance numbers and its unscruplous job agencies that employ them.wake up and join the real world. "

Where were you when the Joseph Rowntree Foundation was doing its research? It would have saved them no end of time and stopped them producing a 40-page document.

http://www.jrf.org.uk/bookshop/eBooks/2042-eth nicity-relative-poverty.pdf
corbyloon i have no desire to read the joesph rowntree report all i know is that illegal immigrants who are here and earn less than the minimum wage have no one to blame but themselves if they dont like it then they ought to go to the nearest police station and hand themselves in as an 'illegal' end of story.................
If you bothered to read the Report you'd find it refers to immigrants and not only illegal ones but then again why should the facts get in the road?
im sure you will agree most immigrants who work here whether legal or not are better off here in the uk than their place of origin whether they are iraqi.polish.bulgarian or whatever.at the end of the day when they arrive here they get housing, money etc etc and they have never paid a penny into the system but if i and many millions of taxpayers fall onto bad times and have to ask the state for help we are means tested and more often than not refused help so where is the fairness in that?this country is a haven for all immigrants because we are a soft touch.
How can they be getting benefits if you say they don't have proper National Insurance Numbers? You cannot have it both ways. If the employers paid them the correct rates of pay, the immigrants would pay Income Tax and National Insurance wouldn't they?
ps.......................you asked where i was when this report was published i was probably in basra fighting to keep our country terrorist free along with thousands of other soldiers to keep our country free and great not a milk cow for all and sundry..................
When were you in Basra then?
