I am afraid most "English" people are fat and happy.

As long as we have jobs, money, a decent house, low interest rates and low mortgage payments we tend to sit back and let the government do whatever they want.

We stick a cross on a piece of paper once every few years and thats it. We may moan about things, but never do anything about it.

I hear so many people moaning to each other about immigration and asylum, but the main policical parties seem to pretend it is not a problem.

I have HATED what have seen happen to this country in the last 10 or 15 years.

Every time you watch then news or read the paper or go on the internet it is some issue or another related to immigration and asylum, such as:

Muslim terror cells, the veil, black gun crime, alleged racism in almost every UK organization, political correctness (no more bah bah black sheep), forced marriages, "honour" killings, election fraud (almost totally by Asians), Yardie gangs, people smuggling, invasion by people from countries like Romania just because we are stupid enough to still be in the EU.

The list goes on and I could add more.

I used to LOVE living in the UK, now I feel like a stranger in my own country.

And to answer your question, one day I think we could well have a civil war (if the "English" can be bothered to get off their back sides).
As I've said before, supporters of Shariah Law are never going to get into power - the Lib Dems have enough difficulty and there's many more of them.

vhg, thats a most comprehensive reply, and echoes my thoughts almost exactly.

I believe a civil war, riots, general uprising etc, is now, thanks to Political Correctness amd this goverment, is now inevitable, just when, Hope i'm wrong, but I reckon at the most, ten to fifteen years. And your right about the apathy in this country.

jenstar, don't believe it, Sharia Law is the biggest internal threat this country has ever had to face, (post Civil War), and if it does happen, as I believe, you'll be clothed from your head to toes, with only your eyes peeking out.
Lonnie & VHG, I'm with you two. I dread to think what might happen in this country in the future.
Lonnie:

"Hope i'm wrong"

Don't worry. You are.

What annoys me considerably more than all this is the fact that people believe the hype which is designed to sell newspapers (or a ladies' magazine in the case of the Daily Mail) and make ludicrous predictions. Having said that, people were saying exactly the same thing about the Irish in mainland Britain in the 19th and 20th centuries, and also about Indians/Pakistani's in the 70's. So I guess I shouldn't really be surprised.

Frankly, I hear it frequently in everyday life and I'm getting rather bored with it. If people want to immerse themselves in such rubbish, I shall accept their freedom to do so.
Krom, this country is on the downward slope, but maybe you're so bored you haven't noticed that things have changed considerably since the 1970s.
Absolutely spot on vehelpfulguy, without a doubt the best answer i've ever read on this site, and the war will come of that i have no doubt.

kromovaracun and infundibulum, problem with this country at the moment, is that there are too many appeasers in goverment, and because of PC, the ordinary people are too scared to speak out, they'd be arrested,

As for the article, I didn't need that to see whats going on, it just explained things a bit better than I could, I take it you've not heard the advocaters of Sharia Law say that they want to take over this country?, once they've got the numbers, it'll happen.

Once trouble starts, the non Muslim population won't care which law is being practiced, they'll lump them all together, and that will bring the so called moderates on their side.

As far as the word 'balance' is concerned, yes, it does, and the scales are heavily weighted, and not in our favour.
1. 'Shariah Law' actually has little Koranic authority (to my knowledge)

2. The vast, vast, vast, majority of muslims abhor the actions of fanatics just as much as you or I. Seeing a bunch of protestors may look like a lot on telly - but that's a concentration of people in one area. The number of advocates is actually tiny.

I'm beginning to wonder if the definition of 'PC' is beginning to fade away - people tend to just slap blame on it. PC leaves the door wide open for pedants and can be ludicrous when taken too far, but that's pretty much it. I don't understand how it can possibly be considered some kind of terror weapon...

Forgot to respond to naomi24:

I'm well aware tht this country has changed since the seventies, but what on earth does that have to do with the subject at hand? If you're planning to attribute the change (which is comparitively positive) to the influence of ethnic minorities, then I shall place my hands on my head, throw back my neck and scream loudly in advance...
I agree with you. Even on my little island we are inundated with muslims. They are very nice and pleasant, but I feel they are gradually invading us, and no one is doing anything about it.
"and I think it will in my lifetime, it'll be Sharia Law we'll be under. "

There are 1.6 Million Muslims in a country whose population is 58.8 Million.

Exactly how gullible do you have to be to think that 2.8 % of the population can vote in Sharia Law?

Or how gullible do you have to be to think that this 2.8% can reproduce enough (in your lifetime - lets say 60 years) to give a majority.

Gullible enough to continue to buy the Daily Mail I guess.
Krom, why ask what this has to do with the 70s? You made the comparison, not me. And yes, I do attribute much of the change in this country to the influence of ethnic minorities. Get screaming if you must.
I am glad to see that there are still some right minded people on this site, but where were you when in the past when I have posted simular questions? Not as many came to my defence, and I have been branded a racist and a bigot, and once I was asked to be banned from AB? I was beginning to think that it was only the political correct, left wing bunch, that posted on this site.

Reverting back to the question, the problems will come to the surface when more and more Muslims are elected into positions of power as MPs. England could finish up with even more of a problem, than we now have with the vast amount of Scottish MPs that are now firmly in place in the House of Commons. Both of which even now have their own parliaments.
aog do you honestly believe the Scottish Parliament and the Muslim Parliament of Great Britain have equal status?
naomi: I've realised we were inadvertently talking about different things, hence the confusion. Entirely my fault.

My comparison with the 70's was simply to point out that this isn't the only time people have been waving their arms and proclaiming the end of civilisation for these reasons. I was merely illustrating that they were wrong then and they were wrong with the Irish before that.

anotheoldgit: I don't think you need to get too worried about muslims in 'positions of power' - most people are far more concerned about the candidate than about the candidate's religious beliefs. And justifiably so.

And why on earth should Muslim MP's be considered a threat? I sincerely doubt a sabre-wielding jihadist would ever dream of standing for election in this country, and I doubt even more that people [Christian and Muslim alike] would be at all willing to elect them.

Comparing Muslims to Scots is ludicrous to the extreme. The Scottish are a nation - that encompasses Scots of all beliefs and shapes and sizes. Islam is a religion. They're two compeltely different things.
Kromovaracum I think that Muslims in positions of power is exactly what we must get worried about. Because it is a fact that their religion takes over their whole life, thoughts and actions, they are completely transfixed, and are not prepared to divert from their beliefs in any way.

They do not have to have an outward appearance of a sabre-wielding jihadist (as you described) to put up and be elected. Look at the recent jailed terrorists, all British born and educated, and described by their community as very nice quiet boys. You ask who would be willing to elect them? the answer is simple their fellow Muslims of course.

Comparing Muslims to Scots is ludicrous to the extreme. The Scottish are a nation. - Not ludicrous at all, Islam is not only their religion but it is also their nation (Muslim first, and British second) and encompasses Muslims of all shapes and sizes but with just the one belief .

enoch powell predicted this scenario in the 1960s and he was exactly right his 'rivers of blood' speech is spot on.i bet he is spinning in his grave.im not racist and i am tolerant to a certain degree of multi cultureism but i certainly object to the situation that we are in now.the british identity is indeed in grave danger of being eradicated.
Amazing - there are less than 10% of the population of the British Isles that are not British - but people are terrified of Johnny Foreigner being elected to power!

And look at the Muslim MPs who do get to power:

How Shahid Malik voted on key issues since 2001:

* Very strongly for introducing a smoking ban.
* Strongly for introducing ID cards.
* Very strongly for Labour's anti-terrorism laws.
* Very strongly against investigating the Iraq war.

Still, why let facts get in the way of prejudice?
