I used to knock around with a Jewish girl who told me hilarious Jewish jokes, but they were really odd, non-obvious which appealed to my sense of humour, such as:

The other woman leans over and says,"I'm having an affair".
"Oh", replies the first woman, "Who's doing the catering?"
Now THAT is a funny joke based on racial idiosyncracies.

Honest...whilst I was writing that, I was trying to think whether Frank Carson had ever made me laugh, and not even HIS Irish jokes ever tickled me.

You laugh at Jewish ones, so if i laugh at one based on the stereotype of another race/religion how is that different to you laughing at one based aroung Jewish "traits" ??

It's so lame to point to 'my mate Terry who's black and he never finds it offensive'. Because for every 'my mate' I can bet you there are dozens of black people who have been made to feel like sh1t because of being singled out and racially abused.

And as a Man City fan who's just seen one of our young players mocked and racially abused by Serbian fans and players in the Euro U21 championships, I'm glad he's not around to call himself a City supporter either. I bet Nedum Onouoha isn't crying over him.

NJOK makes a number of very good points...so can you answer this - if a crowd of footie supporters find it funny to chuck bananas on a pitch and make monkey sounds, is this acceptable humour...because it's just a joke innit?

We were fortunate enough to see dear old Bernard Manning 'live' at his club a few years ago.
We along with our friends, were greeted by him at the bar before he went on stage. He was so hospitable & a really lovely bloke.
I for one couldn't give a dam what anyone else thinks - he had us in hysterics from the minute he walked on stage, to the minute he finished.
RIP Bernard!
(P.S. In comparison - I started to watch a Chubby Brown video, but switched it off after only a few minutes! In that short time, it appeared his favourite word was c**t & I didn't see anything funny or remotely amusing in him at all).

He wouldn't say it to someone at the shops, he would say it at a show where people had paid through choice to hear what he had to say. And just trying to think how you would get "rancid old slag" into a joke. However, Iif he made jokes about the colour of her hair and the clothes she wears I would laugh because I find it funny.
I'm sure there are comedians who make jokes about straight white males and if they can make a living out of it fair play.
As I said freedom of speech. Just because you don't find it funny doesn't mean it isn't to others. It's all about taste. I find Benny Hill funny but I suppose some on here will call him an expoiter of women.
